Is that it for second base?
When asked if the Tigers are no longer in the market for a second baseman, now that they've re-signed Ramon Santiago, manager Jim Leyland said, "we'll have to see how it plays out, but I'd be very comfortable going with (Ryan) Raburn and Santiago at second."
Translation: Yes, that's probably it for second base.

Detroit Tigers Team Notes

Tigers have been following Cuban superstar, Cespedes, for years. Know what it will take to sign him: as much as $40 million, maybe more.

never rule out Detroit in bidding for a big star bigger teams want: Pudge, Magglio, Cabrera, etc. Cespedes-Jackson a nice combo.

Mike Ilitch wants to make a splash following 2011. Big bucks for Buehrle is safe. Paying bigger for Cespedes would be spectacular.

Tigers are so intent on adding speed and defense, Aramis Ramirez would be a lousy fit even if he wanted less money and years. Can't see it.
