Some pretty incredible numbers for Tigers rookie pitcher Michael Fulmer over the past four starts: according to ESPN Stats and Info, Fulmer has an ERA of 0.32 ERA and 0.64 WHIP during that span. That ERA ranks as the best in MLB in that time frame (since May 21). Another interesting note from ESPN Stats crew: Fulmer three 17 of 22 first-pitch strikes (77%) tonight as opposed to 54% and 48% in pat two starts. So he's having to battle from behind less. Making things easier on himself.

People will talk up the K's during his 4 start hot streak, but the bigger Michael Fulmer news is his stats versus lefties in that time: .081 BAA (.140 afforded to righties), .135 WHAV (.195), 50.0 GB% (51.4%).

Rookie pitcher Michael Fulmer admitted he didn't have his best stuff tonight. Not happy with walks, said his fastball command was " a little out there." Pretty remarkable considering his final line, which featured just two hits in six shutout innings. Said Fulmer: "All that matters is that 'W' next to the Tigers name."

June 7 in Tigers and mlb history:

1908 - The Detroit Tigers turn a triple play against the Boston Red Sox for the second day in a row, but Boston wins. The two tri-killings in two games is a unique major league record.

2004 - The Tigers draft Justin Verlander in the first round of the amateur draft. A pitcher from Old Dominion, Verlander signs a deal with the Tigers in October and makes his first big league start the following July. By 2006 Verlander is contributing to the Tigers and helping them to the American League pennant. Verlander had a year for the ages in 2011 with a 24 and 5 record, while leading the league in Strikeouts, earned run average, and several other pitching categories.

Daily Dose: Feeling Fulmer.
If not for Shane Greene developing a blister, Michael Fulmer might still be in the minors. After Fulmer?s first four starts for the Tigers, it looked like he?d be sent back down. Now it looks like he could be up for good.

Fulmer continued his excellent recent string of starts with another gem against the Blue Jays on Monday. He held the imposing Toronto lineup to just two hits ? both singles ? and three walks across six shutout frames, recording five strikeouts along the way. Not bad for a guy who said he didn?t even have his good stuff.

After the aforementioned first four starts of his major league career, Fulmer held a 6.52 ERA and 1.97 WHIP, not going deeper than five innings in any outing. Since then, the young right-hander has permitted just one run over 28 1/3 frames, good for a 0.32 ERA. He also boasts a 0.64 WHIP and impressive 27/7 K/BB ratio over the stretch.

Speaking of remarkable stats, credit ESPN for this one: Fulmer became the first Tigers pitcher in the last 100 years to go three straight scoreless starts while yielding three or fewer hits. Not bad for a 23-year-old rookie.

Up next for Fulmer are the Yankees in the Bronx and then another one on the road against the reigning champs in Kansas City.
