June 5 in Tigers history:

1997 - with the first overall selection in the amateur draft, the Tigers select pitcher Matt Anderson out of Rice University. It’s the first overall #1 pick the Tigers have ever had in the June draft. Armed with a 100-MPH fastball, Anderson will be in the Detroit bullpen the next year.

2001: The Boston Red Sox beat the Detroit Tigers, 4 - 3, in 18 innings on Shea Hillenbrand's home run over the Green Monster. Tim Wakefield, with a scoreless inning, is the winner. Boston DH Manny Ramirez receives four intentional walks, tying the American League mark set by Roger Maris, on May 22, 1962. Maris did it in a 12-inning game. The major league record is five, set by Andre Dawson, in a 16-inning game, on May 22, 1990.

On Castellanos, now headed to Erie; He's a 3B, not 2B. If that doesn't work, will try LF.
Bat impressive, defense needs work. ETA Sept 2013.
