Dirks able to run, but not close to returning.
Tigers left fielder Andy Dirks ran Wednesday, but isn't ready to return in the near future.
Head athletic trainer Kevin Rand said Dirks isn't pain-free from Achilles tendinitis, which has kept him out since May 30.
"He was able to do more today than he was {Tuesday]," Rand said. "He's still moving ahead. There's just a couple of movements he's making that he's feeling discomfort on."
Detroit manager Jim Leyland said whenever Dirks is ready for game action, he'll likely be sent on a rehab assignment.

Manager Jim Leyland expressed his confidence in reliever Phil Coke, who pitched two innings Tuesday, allowing one unearned run. Leyland said Coke will likely be off until the Tigers return home Friday.
"He's my most experienced guy, by far," Leyland said. "He can get right-handed guys out."

Tigers even series with Cubs with another come-from-behind win...score 7R from 6th inning on, beat Cubs, 8-4. Boesch, Peralta w/ big nights.

Tigers were down 4-1 after Cubs scored 2 w/ two outs in 5th...then took adv. of a big error in the 6th to score 4 and take the lead...

Garza cruised thru 5, but Boesch led off 6th with sharp single. Cabrera hit soft GB to Mather at 3B, looked like DP - but Mather booted it.

W/ one out, Young flared single into RF to make it 4-2...Peralta then drove ball up RCF gap to score 2 and tie game, 4-4.

After Laird bunt single, Santiago gave Tigers lead for good with bounceout to first. Boesch HR in 7th made it 6-4, Tigers added 2 in 8th.

Boesch starting to look like Boesch we saw most of last year - finished 4-5 with HR and 2RBI, now 12-22 last 6G, 2dbl, 2HR, 5RBI.

Peralta has been hitting ball hard lately - he finished 3-4 (single, dbl, triple) with 2RBI, scored 2R. Santiago had 2RBI on groundouts...

Porcello started - for 2nd straight start, 5IP, 9H and 4ER...he did get win (4-4). Bullpen closed it out - Villarreal continues to impress.

Villarreal bridged gap to Benoit in 8th w/ two superb innings - retired all 6 batters, K'd 3, Boesch made superb diving catch for final out.

Since his return from minors, Villarreal has pitched 16.2IP, allowed 3ER on 9H+7BB, with 26K.

Valverde was working on 5th straight 1-2-3 inning -but gave up 2, 2 out hits in 9th. Jackson exc. running catch on Castro drive ended gm.

June 14 in Tigers history:

2011: Justin Verlander comes within 5 outs of pitching his second no-hitter of the season in leading the Tigers into first place in the AL Central with a 4 - 0 win over Cleveland. He strikes out 12 in pitching a two-hit shutout, with Orlando Cabrera's 8th-inning single the first safety of the night against his overwhelming stuff.
