Detroit Tigers Team Notes Over 3 Million Views!!! Thankyou!

I will be gone most of today. Spending some time with my old mom and later a couple of friends as I celebrate my B-day number 65.

I am truly blessed to get this old and still be in good health, no health issues or meds, and still have a parent living, especially after all she went through this past year. For months while her apartment was repaired from a fire, and then her several months long illness, lifesupport, rehab/therapy, having to go live in a nursing home, and my having to close out her place, I was coming apart at the seams physically and emotionally. Not enough hours in the day.

Many, many times the best part of the day from before spring training and on, was to post here with all of you in the mornings, and then the game threads. Kind of like a refuge from the nearly year long real life stress. Our Tigers, and all of you helped. thanks.

Better fastball, better 'D' keys for Fister.
from espn

Fister lowered his second-half ERA to 2.51, second-best in the AL to David Price?s 2.24. Had he won, he would have matched Jered Weaver for the AL lead in second-half wins with nine.

Over the last two Septembers, Fister is 8-1 with a 1.44 ERA.
How many pitchers have had eight wins and a sub-1.50 ERA after September 1 in a two-year span?
Elias tells us that since 1969 there have been four others besides Fister.

How Fister K'd 9 straight:
36 pitches, 27 strikes
7 fastball strikeouts
6 of 7 fastball "strike three's"
were preceded by offspeed strike
Longest AB: 6 pitches

We have a pennant race...even if the White Sox are fading in a big, big way.

Did we write the Tigers off too soon? Of course we did.

Max Scherzer's deltoid injury has put the remainder of his season in question.

Anibal Sanchez has proved the old baseball platitude true: You can never have enough pitching.
To think the Tigers could have had Ubaldo Jimenez instead of Doug Fister...
Right field is a train wreck.

Triple Crown and MVP talk ensues, including our listener email. Ian is in the Wonderboy camp, by the way.

Is Miguel Cabrera pressing?
Sabermetics vs. traditional stats from Ian's national perspective.

The MVP is a full season award, should Mike Trout's missing April and slow finish be taken into account?
Should Cabrera's moving to 3rd base voluntarily be taken into account, considering the move to a tougher position arguably made him more valuable to his team?

In the week in media head/desk, we shockingly learn Hawk Harrelson is the most biased announcer in baseball.

Manny Acta gets a raw deal in getting fired by the Indians, while their low-rent ownership make an Alan Trammell circa 2002 out of Sandy Alomar Jr.
The lightning round includes Chris Perez, dancing on the grave of the Metrodome and revoking man-cards.

Happy Birthday KC! Feliz cumplea?os, joyeux anniversaire, Gl?cklicher Geburtstag, Gelukkige verjaardag, compleanno felice, lycklig f?delsedag.

In any language, it merely means we are getting older my friend. Do not stop, for I shall pass you in a few months. btw...did you figure out your medicare plan yet?
