Detroit Tigers Team Notes Over 3 Million Views!!! Thankyou!

Miguel Cabrera Wins the 2012 AL MVP Award.
Congratulations Miguel for a Triple Crown and MVP Season.
Miguel is the first Tigers position player to be the AL MVP since Hank Greenberg in 1940.

Miggy first on 22 of 28 ballots. A mandate, if you will.
Cabrera, who was second on the other six ballots, finished with 362 points to 281 for Trout.
It is the 10th time a Tigers player has been named MVP by the BBWAA.
Previous Tigers winners are: Mickey Cochrane (1934), Hank Greenberg (1935, 1940), Charlie Gehringer (1937), Hal Newhouser (1944, 1945), Denny McLain (1968), Willie Hernandez (1984) and Justin Verlander (2011).

Cabrera's off season awards haul has been impressive. He has won the Hank Aaron Award, the Luis Aparicio Award and a Silver Slugger, along with being named Sporting News and Players Choice Player of the Year. The cherry on top is AL MVP.

Miguel Cabrera first hitting Tiger since 1940 to win MVP.
from the freep

Until Thursday, it had been 72 years since a Tigers hitter had won the American League's Most Valuable Player Award. No one wearing the Old English D had done it since Hank Greenberg in 1940.

The streak has been ended by a 29-year-old right-handed hitter who combines power and RBI ability with batting precision in a way seldom seen since Hank Aaron and Willie Mays in the 1960s.

Between Greenberg in 1940 and Thursday, there had been nine times that a Tigers hitter had finished second in the MVP voting. The most recent, in 2010, was Miguel Cabrera.
Among Tigers hitters who finished second in that long span were Al Kaline and Cecil Fielder, who each did so twice.

The end of liberty, baseball in America. (This article is a direct satire of this, by the way. It would probably help to point that out.)
