Detroit Tigers Team Notes Over 3 Million Views!!! Thankyou!

Last month, we heard that a number of teams were inquiring on Tigers right-hander Rick Porcello. Detroit turned clubs away at the time because they were unsure if they would be able to retain Anibal Sanchez. Now that they have Sanchez in the fold, however, Detroit could conceivably pull the trigger on a deal. Could they also have a significant free agent pickup on the horizon? More on that and other items out of the American League Central..

The Tigers have a history of making waves in January, but it looks like their biggest improvements will come from within this year, writes Jason Beck of MLB.com. Even though the club has refused to comment on it, now would be the time for them to sign Justin Verlander to a contract extension as he has two years left on his current deal. Detroit may also pick up a right-handed hitter to play left field in a mix with Andy Dirks, but it's not expected to be a glamorous signing.

Coming soon, a new season.
Looking ahead to 2013 as it might be ? the way espn nitwit Jim Caple sees it, after January, anyway.

"Other teams I hope/expect to see in the postseason: Anaheim, Oakland, Tampa Bay, Toronto and Chicago in the American League, plus San Francisco, Los Angeles, Cincinnati and Washington in the National League."

The Rays and Jays likely will win a WC and the ALED, b/c the Yankees look to be older, weaker and injury-prone/hobbled, and only their pitching might keep them competitive next season. The O's haven't been very active this off-season, albeit they won a lot of 1-run games last season, to clinch a WC, so that probably isn't going to happen again next season. As far as Oakland, they might replicate their surprising 2/3 of last season again, but it is not a sure thing that they will. Anaheim looks good on paper offensively, but they lost SP Greinke, who even with him, the team still didn't win the ALWD. He picks the White Sox who are counting on the near Mendoza-line hitting Flowers to pick up where Pierzynski left off, to help them win the ALCD title, huh?!?
