Detroit Tigers Team Notes Over 3 Million Views!!! Thankyou!

Tigers have optioned Danny Worth to Toledo. Club is at 25 players in camp.

Tigers final roster spot goes to Ramon Santiago but Leyland said DannyWorth29 deserved to make team.

Leyland: (Worth's) played great. He's hitting better than I've ever seen him, he's playing better than I've seen him.

Leyland: You don't wish injuries on your team, obviously, but I would say that there's a good chance …
Leyland: … you'll see Quintin Berry & Danny Worth in Detroit this summer at some point.

Leyland: This is a big disappointment to a guy that came in and played his fanny off. (Worth) looks like he's a big leaguer.

Opening Day roster set after Detroit Tigers option Danny Worth to Triple-A Toledo.
from Mlive

"It was a good conversation, because he's such a respectful kid," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said of the move to cut Worth. "It wasn't a fun conversation. I can tell you that in reality we had 27 guys this year that we tried to fit on a 25-man squad, and we just couldn't do it. That's exactly what happened, because he deserves to be on the team."

The roster for Opening Day, as it stands right now, will look like this:

Pitchers: Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, Doug Fister, Anibal Sanchez, Rick Porcello, Joaquin Benoit, Octavio Dotel, Phil Coke, Al Alburquerque, Brayan Villarreal, Darin Downs, Drew Smyly.
Position players: Austin Jackson, Torii Hunter, Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder, Victor Martinez, Andy Dirks, Jhonny Peralta, Alex Avila, Omar Infante, Brayan Pena, Ramon Santiago, Matt Tuiasosopo, Don Kelly.

Too bad that VMart is now too old, too brittle, and too risky to use as THE backup C. There are few teams in MLB that have enjoyed the bench flexibility of a very good offensive/defensive catcher who can also PT DH/1B allowing them to add another RP for the BP or an extra UT OFer/IFer to the team. However perhaps being able to use VMart occasionally as starting catcher for interleague games on the road w/no DH could/should be a big help in resting Avila when necessary or needed all season long, since interleague play has now been spread throughout the entire season.

Tigers projected batting order: Jackson, Hunter, Cabrera, Fielder, Martinez, Dirks, Peralta, Avila, Infante.

Jon the FF nitwit morosi, ex-Tigers sportswriter now at FF fox picks the royals in the Central.

Jon's surname isn't that far removed from "moronic" and w/o checking I could swear that he picked the Tigers to finish somewhere in the ALCD like 2nd to 4th last year. But @ least he picked them to clinch a WC, (as well as defeating the Rangers in the one-game WC duel) which I suppose is possible in the AL Central but unlikely. That would mean that the Royals might need to win ~95 or more, and the Tigers ~90+. Not happening and the Royals aren't very likely to improve by THAT much, (20+games?!?) nope...sorry.

His web-page took a loong time to load, slowing my browser to a fucking crawl, b/c of too much being linked, including the videos and 3rd party ads.

yeah Doug, I was trying to remember what 'moronic'osi pick he made last year. really, after shields do they have any starters that are any good?
imo the three teams fight it out for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, then the twins.
