Do the Tigers take a chance on him and sign him at the end of 2021? This surgery has been very successful and even though he is 37, this surgery can extend his career another 3-4 maybe 5 years. He may not be his old self when he returns, but a Justin Verlander at 75% is better than anything else this team has now. I'm just figuring, he might come cheap and it?s not like he didn't want to finish his career in Detroit.
I don't think he wants to be a RP. Tommy John isn't like it used to be.This is my offer. 10M for a 39-year-old reliever has been tried by the Tigers and it did not work our so ?good.? Sentiment aside.
And if he has any other offer why Detroit? So many better destinations.

If he TRULY wants to pitch that long he's likely gunning for 300 Wins. So he probably doesnt have much interest in being a reliever.....unless his arm doesn't react well to the surgery.
Likely too costly for the Tigers anyway.
I don't think he has a chance in hell to get to 300. He needs 74 wins and he will be 39 when he starts his next game.
Which likely means he goes to a good team. He doesn't get 300 with us.He wants to go to 45. If he does, he needs to average 10.7 wins a season.
They need more than JV. they need a boat load of hitters and pitchers. Todays score of 7-6 shows no improvement in fact, regression is sinking in like a rock in water.
Right.
Basically, the Tigers need to replace everyone they have with the Dodgers.
