Does Jeter hang em up should Tigers win vs Yanks?

Mitch[/color]]Well IMO its easier to go get a DH, a good one, than move Arod to DH and go get a 3B.
I doubt they would move ARod to DH bc they want to.....They may not hava choice. I'm sure the Marlins will listen to offers for HanRam if the yanks are interested, and as was mentioned, they need SP prob more than anything. They are still a very good team tho, just an aging one.

Oh my....after the game I saw in game 4 part of me wanted to say "they aint never gonna be anything but the Bronx Bombers". Still I am going to stand by that Yanks in third place for 2012 prediction. Nice that three things are true. In 2006 DET completely humbled the NYYs in the playoffs....surprising most everyone. Then this season we were 4-2 verses them. Now we have played them even so far in the ALDS with one win in NYC. The Tigers are a SOLID road team....no reason why they cant explode early and get ready for Texas.

Yes Mitch Mod Master: Compete yes....but only to a point. First phase of this was the Tigers win last night and a majority of the Yankee fans saying it was a NYY choke. I dont think the Yanks choked at all. They played a really good Tiger team with a similar won/ loss record. My point has been that a team that starts Jeter the next couple years, that has lost it's all star catcher, and has a fading post roids slugger named AROD is not gonna be a team similar to the cruise control teams of Torre. I stand by all the claims others have for Cano and Grandy and say more power to em. I just think the Tigers have "sposed" the Yanks as paper tigers (pun intended). I can understand the 2006 Yankee fans expecting the Tigers to fold in the ALCS. The series just completed simply proves that the old wood needs to be put to pasture. If Jeter sticks around to see a GREAT Yankee team for him to ride out with in a blaze of glory....well he may be waiting three years. By then he may not be starting. You heard it first here....NYYs third place next year....even if they get to 90.

I hope you're right. I just see them adding more high priced free agents in '12 and be competitive again. And though their pitching was okay in the series and not the hitting, I think they need to go after pitching. Not sure who is available. And hopefully Boston chokes into oblivion. Too bad another team besides TBR can't get it together in the ALE.

Tom Verducci in SI today:
"What we can appreciate now is that the Yankees from 1996-2003 were even more extraordinary than we thought. Up to the 2003 World Series, they won 16 of 19 postseason series. That, folks, is ridiculous and unlikely to be seen again."

I think Tom plagarized from my wit and wisdom in this here thread y'all! LOL

Mitchrapp: The consensus among Yankee media hype types is that the huge money going to aging stars will preclude the Yankees from making really helpfull trades....unless they want to pay for players playing elsewhere. Every team needs a "rebuilding" year. The NYYs are not JUST a team though, they are a conglomerate, thus they will have a refitting year. Some like Jeter and Anyroid are booked for an extended stay. It's an apple and oranges comparison but we may see similarites between the Yankers current state and past Tigger years of waiting for the bad contracts to clear out (Higgy and company) er, better: (Goin no where with zales)
