TE Eric Ebron (first round, North Carolina): Ebron had at least four targets for the fourth straight week since returning from his hamstring injury and caught three passes for 28 yards, along with 19 yards after the catch. The Lions are still not using him much as a downfield presence as he averaged 1.50 yards of air per target. Since his return, he?s mostly been used on shorter routes as he is air yards per target the past four games have been 1.75 yards (Arizona), 14.75 yards (New England), 1.50 yards (Chicago) and 1.50 yards (Tampa Bay).

At what point are we going to let him stretch the field. Even though I do enjoy watching him leap over defenders on his out routes, would love to see him down the seam to hold the safety

Unless he becomes an elite TE I will never like this pick..

He seems to be getting better every week, nice to b e 9-4 without the need of our 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th round picks

I agree he seems to be getting better but still only getting 3-4 catches for around 30 yards.

Maybe you guys are seeing something that I'm not, but I don't see this improvement. He's been pretty much the same guy every week, gets a few looks, catches 2-3 passes for 25-40 yards. Him hurdling a guy for an extra 2 yards was cute, but I'm just not seeing what the improvement is.

Improvement from 0 catches and 0 yards.

Didn't say it was a big one

Nor should you. You don't take a TE in the top half of the first round and not expect him to be top 5.

Well at least last year wasnt the deepest most talented receiver class in a long time

We won the game. Our 1st rounder picked up three first downs. We're sitting at 9-4 and currently holding onto a Wild Card sport. And people are still complaining?

I'm glad we have a coach who realizes 1st round pick or not, we're going to give our best players the ball and that is Calvin, Tate and Bell! Instead of knocking the pick, praise the coach for having the brains that many coaches and organizations don't have.

35 yards a game over 16 games is 560 yards. That is what most of you expected from a rookie TE. I thought he would get more. Tate stepped up more and Ebron had a slower start and injuries. Offense is still exploding. We don't need Ebron to be a a 60 yard guy just yet (1,000 yards) He has that potential though in year 2 and beyond.

Also Beckham wouldn't get the targets in Detroit that he does in NY. 84 in 9 games (missed first 4). 9.3 per game. Ebron gets about 4 per game in 10 games played. I wouldn't take away from Calvin/Tate just to give to Beckham.

Far from over 13 games into a career.

He was drafted to be a deep threat down the seam. He runs to the flat and picks up 6 yards.

Nobody is complaining about us being 9-4. We would just like to see our first round pick doing what he was drafted to do.

He's gotten over 35 yards once so far this year. He's on pace for a 244 Yard season.

He will need to average 120 yards the final three to get to 560 Yards.

35 yards per game blows. The problem though is he doesn't get 35 yards a game. He's done it once and has 199 yards. So is that good for a rookie? Yeah that's what I thought..

And our offense is still exploding. Year 2 could be his year. We'll see what he does last 3 and playoffs. He's trending in the right direction.

Plus the intangibles of taking coverage away from Tate at times. It happens.

Playing at TE is good for a rookie. Year 2 and beyond.

That's not what you were talking about it though, it was 35, 560 - good for rookie. You know shit :hehe:

And before that it was all these targets and 800 yards. Soon you'll actually say 17 yards a game is good for TE..

I know it's way too early to judge and we have an exploding offense. And the best defense in the league that I called.

20.4 PPG, that's about as explosive as water dripping out of a faucet.

And yes, people can complain about things, it's a message board. This team still has a long ways to go if they want to win a playoff game. They put up a couple of good games against pretty bad competition.

Our offense put up very good numbers against to rather bad pass defenses. While it is encouraging they are only doing what you do against horrible teams. Matchup Nightmare pulls no extra coverage than Fauria would.

I'm not claiming bust, just stating disappointment. You expect more out of a top 10 pick.
Yes year 2 could be his year, still talking potential, year 2 could be a lot of things. He still is a great unkown in a year so many rookies proved the "wait three years" theory is becoming outdated.
