Ebron

Drew Stanton is well Drew Stanton. When Palmer got hurt there went Arizona's playoff run.

The traditional/current way every site judges defense is yardage, which is what I was referencing.

Also with offense you are only talking recent, if you go by the same logic with the defense Seattle's Defense is peaking and exploding and by far the best in the league. If we use the last two game measuring stick you seem to like.

Do you win by yards. Nope. Beyond dumb to use yards

PPG

I didn't make the rule, just stating what is universally accepted on all major sites.

So since they have the same record with their +87 point differential vs. our +41 you would agree Seattle is still better overall correct?

Lions defense not the same due to injuries and coaching and rookies not developed quite yet.

Stafford did clearly enough good in 2013. And 2012 they scored more actually. Especially considering his lack of WR 2-4.

Stafford is a very good QB. But you'll continue to hate and be clueless. Carry on.

PPG is accepted at all major sites. You just have to be smart enough to use that. Apparently you are not.

2012? :lmao:

That was his worst season.

PPG includes defensive and special teams points. Yardage is only counts vs the defense. Yardage is a better gauge than points.

So let me get this straight, if the Lions defense had given up 150 yards/game and not allowed a single point all year.....but the special teams had allowed 399 points (57 TD's).....you would consider the Lions to have the worst defense in football?

Exactly...

In FF its Defense/special teams

Meh, I prefer to use per play stats, mainly yards per play and points per play

Lions D
1st in Points per Play http://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/opponent-points-per-play
3rd in Yards per Play http://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/opponent-yards-per-play

Meanwhile, the offense...

25th in Points per Play http://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/points-per-play
21st in Yards per Play http://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/yards-per-play

My main issue with yards per game is that it can be skewed by an offense that's good at controlling the clock...less possessions, less plays, less yards, per play is better at negating that.

Take a look at offensive ToP, defensive yards per game, and defensive yards per play
http://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/average-time-of-possession-net-of-ot
http://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/team-stat/total-defense-category

ToP (top 10)
1. Pittsburgh (16th YPG, 30th YPP)
2. Detroit (2nd YPG, 3rd YPP)
3. Indianapolis (18th YPG, 25th YPP)
4. Seattle (1st YPG, 2nd YPP)
5. San Francisco (3rd YPG, 6th YPP)
6. Dallas (22nd YPG, 27th YPP)
7. Carolina (19th YPG, 23rd YPP)
8. San Diego (9th YPG, 16th YPP)
9. NY Jets (7th YPG, 17th YPP)

10. Denver (4th YPG, 1st YPP)

Bold represent decent gaps between the two stats, the non bold are top defenses, which actually helps contribute to offensive ToP...more possessions, more plays, more time.

ToP (bottom 10)
32. Tennessee (30th YPG, 18th YPP)
31. Philadelphia (25th YPG, 9th YPP)
30. Jacksonville (27th YPG, 21st YPP)
29. Tampa Bay (21st YPG, 20th YPP)
28. Oakland (14th YPG, 11th YPP)
27. Minnesota (12th YPG, 10th YPP)
26. Cincinnati (28th YPG, 14th YPP)
25. Cleveland (20th YPG, 7th YPP)
24. Atlanta (32nd YPG, 31st YPP)
23. Buffalo (5th YPG, 4th YPP)

I forgot what point I was trying to make, something along the lines of...is your defense's YPG better because your offense controls the clock, or does your offense have more possessions because your defense can get stops?

I like the only stat that matters... W/L.

If you lose the final Sunday of the season, no one gives a shit how good you were the rest of the year.
