Edwin Jackson?

EJax gets no respect, IMHO. I think he's got the stuff to be a top of the rotation guy, but settles in as a middle of the rotation guy because of his consistency. Either way, we'd be looking at upgrading the #4 or #5 slot in our rotation, so he'd be a hell of a guy to get for that.

He could come in and pitch in the 5 spot. Its better than bringing Turner up to early like we had to last year and he proved he wasnt ready. With him as the 4 or 5 with porcello that really helps. With a very strong front 3 in JV, The Fister, and Scherzer.

I read the Red Sox offered 1yr @ $5mil-$6mil. We should be able to beat that, I'd think.

I would love to get Jackson on a 1 year deal. And yeah, if he could just show some consistency out there. He definitely has some good stuff. He would be a very solid signing, especially considering our other options, and I would much rather have our young minor league pitchers stay down there for another year.

It would seem like a good fit. He's familiar with most of the clubhouse, no bad feelings from the trade that I'm aware of, and the Tigers are obviously a contender.

Just depends on whether DD and Illitch are down with spending more.

I'm kind of amazed that he can't stick anywhere and that nobody seems interested in giving a long term deal. I wonder if he's not the greatest teammate or something like that.

Jackson lacks seasonal focus.. But he would be a great back end of the rotation starter.

Yeah, it definitely makes you wonder. Teams always seem very eager to trade him too.

I thought the same thing, as much talent and potential that he has, he sure does have problems staying in any one place.

Already played for six teams and he's only 28. If he signs with anybody other than the Dodgers/Rays/Tigers/DBacks/WhiteSux/Cards, it'll be team #7 for him.

In Search of the Elusive 'Pitching Prospect'.
Like many before him, Edwin Jackson was supposed to rack up awards on the way to Cooperstown. So what happened to all these arms?

Of all the pitchers to debut since 1990, only three pitched for more teams before their 28th birthday than Jackson did.

Red Sox out of the mix, Boras client, 1yr deal, we need another pitcher... why isn't this done yet?

Because Jackson wants more then a year and he is unreliable if you look at his numbers... But I am fine if we can get him for a year...

Scuttlebutt has had it that Boras went straight to Mike Ilitch when attempting to convince him that the Tigers needed Fielder's services for 9 freaking years @ 214M, so if that rumor has even a shred of truth to it, then why hasn't he already managed to convince him that he needs EJax for two or three? I would have to think that he has made at least a few attempts to do so, since Mr. I has mentioned that Boras "knew the Tigers team inside and out", and much better than even he did?

Hmm..strange indeed.

Everything I've read lately says 1yr deal. He'd be a back of the rotation upgrade here, so I'd gladly take his ups and downs for that.

Signing a 1yr $8mil+ deal with the Nats. Nats now shopping lefty Lannan. Anybody know about him? It'd be great to get a young lefty starter in our rotation.
