Edwin Jackson?

Don't know why the Tigers wouldn't sign EJax for a season ~ that salary, as he would likely have been a little better than Penny was, anyway. They must have someone else in mind, maybe from their minors after ST, if one of their SPs becomes a standout. If so, then he can/will go for a full season?

But if Edwin gets traded during the season by the Nats, or becomes a FA afterwards, (IF he pitches at least as well as he has over the past several seasons, but probably need to do better than his overall mediocre career averages) then I am going to nickname him "Leper" or maybe "8-Ball" (being that the Nats are now his 7th MLB team)

Fifth starter is kind of a luxury. Certainly, that spot is not expected to even make a post season roster, let alone impact outcomes in the playoffs. After the Fielder signing, I have no problem with the Tigers saving 6-8 million dollars on the fifth starter spot by using minor leaguers.
