Election Aftermath

yeah, there have only been 4 but Reagan was one of the all time greats.

We?ll see.

Reagan was elected when I was 20 - the first election I voted in. I voted for Carter - I had bought into the whole ?Ronnie Raygun gonna blow up the world? thing.

Anyway, four years later Reagan hadn?t blown up the world and things seemed a lot better, so I voted for Reagan and learned about federalism and became Republican. Then in 2000 the Republicans nominated the moron W and I left that party and started voting libertarian.

We?ll see how history remembers Reagan. It wasn?t unscathed - there was the federal spending, although he did have to deal and negotiate with his Irish buddy Tip O?Neill, and there was Iran/Contra.

That said, yes, things were better, seems to me, when Reagan left than they were before he started than any president whose tenure that I can recall in my lifetime.

I read an article about and it said was for civil rights violations.

"The suit asks a judge to rule that the actions of the defendants violated federal law and seeks unspecified monetary damages."

if this doesn't convince people of the incitement charges and get people to take the impeachment more seriously, what will? I like this quote from the Thompson...

"In America, we settle our differences at the ballot box. We don't have coups. We don't have riots. We don't have anything like what occurred Jan. 6. We have to have some semblance of order if our government is to remain strong."

He must have been out of town this past summer and not following the news.

NAACP is suing Trump and company under the Klu Klux Klan Act of 1871 which I don't understand, but apparently gets used when a state actor violates certain civil rights.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_Enforcement_Act#Use_during_and_after_presidency_of_Donald_Trump

NOW the NAACP is claiming that Trump violated the Enforcement Acts of 1871 because a rogue group of rioters broke the law of their own volition, but did not alter the vote on January 6?

NOW? Why not on January 7th?

This is not America, this is not our democracy," Thompson said. "We can't let this kind of riotous activity go on in any form."

Has this guy been in another solar system in 2020 and has he not read a shred of American History, which is rife with incidents of ?riotous activity?? Or is it only ?this kind? of ?riotous activity? that can?t ?go on??

I'm ready to point every finger at Trump and blame him for all sorts of stuff, but I don't understand this lawsuit at all.

TDS.

The NAACP sued him in December under the Enforcement Act for “intimidation” among other charges ... not sure what the status of that one is.

The complaint accuses the campaign and the RNC of violating the 1871 law's prohibition against "preventing by force, intimidation, or threat, any citizen who is lawfully entitled to vote, from giving his support or advocacy in a legal manner, toward or in favor of the election of any lawfully qualified person as an elector for President or Vice President."

I do not believe that people were prohibited from voting, correct?

Election certification involves a vote, but would that even count?

It makes one heck of a headline. Maybe the whole point is to make one heck of a headline.

But did they take their time? It's only February. Seems a bit rushed to me.

I understand that the fact that they didn't find anything only further proves how vast the conspiracy is.

I think these bullshit legal challenges against Trump are now all about distracting people from the fact that Biden: 1) has already reneged on his "$2000 checks go out the door tomorrow if we win the senate," 2) reneged on Democrats' promise to cancel student debt, 3) is continuing child separation policies at the border, and 4) supposedly declaring withdrawal from Afghanistan (which at this point should be unquestionably GOOD, and Trump was pushing for) off the table.

Pelosi and her ilk sandbagged their own Trump impeachment trial by deciding not to call witnesses. Unbelievable! If they don't care enough to do pursue these charges why should we?

Can we stop paying attention to this circus bullshit now?
