Election Aftermath

In the spirit of cancel culture, we should start holding impeachments of cancelled people that haven't held office yet, so that they never can.

Over the last week, I've read some economic accounts of the last year, and it looks like the earlier relief checks they paid last year (like the first round of COVID relief) had the effect of reducing the amount of people below poverty more significantly than anything else in the last couple decades.

So technically Trump (likely in spite of himself) was better for poor people than even Obama.

Kinda wonder if that's the real reason he's out of a job... the billionaires didn't like that.

Keeping the billionaires happy aligns with what Biden is doing... first promising $2000 checks out the door if they won the senate, then immediately backtracking to "$2000 total, or $1400 plus the $600 they sent already" and now means-testing that amount into oblivion, negotiating against themselves to lower the number of people who get checks and the amount of those checks even further.

I made a joke to Tigermud that nobody cares enough what he thinks to cancel him. That?s true, but that?s also true for me and I would guess for you, and for everybody else on this board - no one on this board is important enough for anyone to want to cancel any of us, I would guess.

This might be the last beacon of free speech social media site on the internet.

I care. Why do you think that Biden couldn't get more votes than Obama?
it is just simply not plausible to me. brought to you by mail in vote harvest and 3am drops. IMO

Might make sense. Respect of billionaires and climbing that ladder relative to them was the thing he cared about most.

I don't think it was the relief checks, it was the extra $600 per week for unemployment. The extra $600 = $31K a year and that doesn't include their normal state funded unemployment check. There were probably a lot of people in the service industry that went from below poverty to above with the extra $600 per week.

According to google, about 15% of waiters and bartenders are below the poverty line but that's because they don't claim most of their tips on their taxes.

So when does this final sham impeachment attempt end in vote so they can all stop wasting everybody's time again.

This looks like something pseudo sophisticates would stand in front of and discuss what it?s supposed to be, it?s meaning and it?s significance.

Kinda looks to me like an abstract of a bird.

Maybe a cross between a cardinal and a blue jay.

it's a valid point. By the new standard all of those whom had said much worse over the last couple of years should also be charged with inciting. They are wasting their time Trump isn't going to run again, he may very well spawn a new third party though. Maga party, American First party, Patriot Party, not sure what it'll be called yet. It won't be named the "Trump party" though ya buncha clowns.

It's about context. If everybody hears you say 'fight' and nobody thinks you intended violence, you probably didn't intend violence and people understood from the context. If you say 'fight' and only a handful of people think you intend violence and everyone else agrees from the context that you didn't, then those few people are nutjobs. If you say 'fight' fairly often to many crowds and organized groups start agreeing that you intend violence so they start punching people at rallies, plan to abduct a governor, start fighting counter protesters, dangerously harass an opposing campaign vehicle, and storm the Capitol hurting and killing people, then at the very least, you didn't mind some people reading it that way.

good point. I think the articles mentioned unemployment benefits as well, but I forgot to here.

I don't think they get it all year though.

it seems implausible to me that ballots coming in for both followed perfect logarithmic equations like that, and weren't jerky or anything, until the Blue line got it's 3 AM mail drop.

It's kinda crazy the Democrats didn't think to do a 3 AM mail drop like that in 2000, 2004, or 2016. They could've held the presidency this whole time.

I’m going to fight for my cause every day as your president. I’m going to fight to make sure every American has every reason to thank God, as I thank him, that I’m an American, a proud citizen of the greatest country on Earth. And with hard work — with hard work, strong faith, and a little courage, great things are always within our reach.

Fight with me. Fight with me.

Fight for what’s right for our country. Fight for the ideals and character of a free people.

Fight for our children’s future. Fight for justice and opportunity for all.

Stand up to defend our country from its enemies. Stand up for each other, for beautiful, blessed, bountiful America.

Stand up, stand up, stand up and fight.

Nothing is inevitable here. We’re Americans, and we never give up.

We never quit.

We never hide from history. We make history.

Thank you, and God bless you, and God bless Ameriis ca.

John McCain's acceptance speech for the republican candidate for president. His tone was what I consider to be "strident" at the minimum. I expect that no candidate will be allowed to make this rhetoric ever again.

Well, if the last half-century of American history is anything to go on, we need to do less fighting, and more thinking.

I can't dispute that. Heck ... that implies to the entire history of the US.
