Election Aftermath

I'm seeing some people interpret this update from the WHO, coincidentally on the day of Biden's inauguration, as them intentionally using standards that would result in higher infection rates and more cases and the decrease in cases will be attributed to the new administration's better handling of the disease - or as an indication that Trump mishandled it. I tried reading the WHO piece but I can't tell - it's not written for non-scientists and not at all obvious to a layman that the change will result in a big drop in cases.

What kind of people are interpreting it that way?

The ones who said "flu kills more people each year"?

Apparently, this narrative about everything getting better after the election isn't what Biden's advisors are saying. This is gloomier than I expected.

Of course it's going to get worse before it gets better. What reasonable person expected things to change anytime soon, even when Biden won?

It's endemic now, or close to it, right? Spreading almost uncontrolled through the population. Kids are all back in school spreading it around, restaurants and bars are mostly open, and people are eating inside.

If Biden does everything right - highly unlikely - we'll maybe start seeing improvements over the course of the next several months, and the pandemic might be over in another year, ASSUMING the rest of the world does everything right as well, or we otherwise put strong quarantines in place on international travelers and cargo.

This is better than the course we had been on, which was at this point "wear a mask and be safe if you want, but we're letting nature run its course." This might have lead to years of recurrence, with flare ups and reinfections occurring with the regular mutations of the virus.

On day 1, with the stroke a pen, Biden destroys decades of work on women's rights - so much for Title IX ladies.

Oh, and he put a bust of Cesar Chavez, socialist activist who called illegal immigrants "wetbacks" and opposed illegal immigration, on display in the oval office. So what is it? Is Biden unaware of Cesar Chavez' history, or is he too stupid to know the message that sends, or is he maybe a little more left of center than they want you to believe?

Either way, it's shocking (that's sarcasm, just in case it's not obvious). You can't make this shit up.

I think some states have peaked. Nationally, I think we're close to peaking. If not now, within the next month. I think we're in the thick of it. Maybe this message is meant to temper expectations if people do think it's going to go away quickly.

At least Biden knows now he has to "salute the Marines" rather than just say so out loud as he walks by them.

Joe's a either a savvy globalist who has survived 50 years in DC. You don't do so by playing nice. Or, he's a puppet being literally told what to do in his IFB and he does it. Or says it out loud. Or just says shit for no reason.

We know that the MSM will fluff his pillow for him, though.

they have been doing just that for months!

They went in the tank for "socialist" Biden, but ignored (if not frequently attacked) socialist Bernie who was actually on the left of the political spectrum - even the supposedly "leftist" MSNBC.

Explain that one to me...

Well, Trump went for the handshake, the general saluted first and Trump returned it. So, there's that. Not sure about that protocol.

So - for spartanmack's sake - why would "socialist" Biden be in their club, but the actual socialist Bernie Sanders not be?

Duh. Hunter made a deal in China.

I gave you three choices, I'm sure we could come up with more, but "socialist" Biden wasn't one of mine - here's what I said...

The "little more left of center" was in reference to both actions - wiping out decades of equal rights battles for women in favor of transgender athletes, and idolizing a socialist activist who opposed illegal immigration (who by the way, made far more derogatory comments about illegals than Trump ever did - that qualifies him to be MC's avatar some day). Personally, I think it's all of the above.

Now where did those goal posts go?

I thought communism was different from socialism, and whatever the chinese do (accept foreign investment to build factories to sell consumer goods for money to their people and abroad, and operate large sectors of their domestic economic on a for-profit basis, with only more or less infrastructure and public transit now centrally planned and publicly owned) is not really communism anymore... BUT THEN I forgot that these labels mean whatever Right Wing guys in America want them to mean to support their argument in that moment.

It's confusing, but the NWO is all about the read option while the ChiCOMs are about speed in space.

oh, right... Biden's "more left of center" and so you're not saying he's a socialist, just that he idolizes socialists, because he put a statue of one somewhere.

I don't know how you square that with him being known as "the Senator from MBNA" for much of his political career but I guess you'll find a way...
