Election Aftermath

Well hang on, let?s not jump to conclusions, let?s be reasonable here for a minute.

It wasn?t just any ordinary three days.

It was the NFL Hall of Fame induction weekend.

The NFL Hall of Fame induction may be the most important point of the year for America.

It?s signals at last the return of football to a tired and hungry and weary people.

It?s the first sign since the Super Bowl that life might actually start to be good again.

Emotional ballads of September come to mind, holidays are becoming visible on the horizon ahead, and a weary and troubled society begins to envision that maybe - just maybe - this will be the year that Michigan finally beats Ohio State again.

Burdened since last Super Bowl with inflation and supply chain issues and the diminution of this country?s prestige and influence in the eyes of the rest of the world, all a direct result of fuck ups by President Biden and his administration, i credit AGOTUS Garland for having the judgement and wisdom to hold off, and at least not let Biden fuck up the NFL HOF WE by introducing yet another Trump novella right at the beginning of it.

Rudy, is that you?

I agree with this. After all the Mueller report hype, Clinton hearings, etc...nobody ever faces the consequences. Whether you believe it's because it's a liberal conspiracy or just rich people getting away with things we never would, they always seem to walk away clean.

The Mueller report found nothing wrong and subsequently we?ve learned the entire thing was a hoax - one that the FBI was complicit in. Nothing in the Washington post or on CNN, MSNBC or the major networks trumpeting Shiff?s endless promises of irrefutable evidence was ever proven true. If anything, like the call reported by Vindman, they exonerated the President.

And yet, none of these anti-Trumpers have learned these lessons as evidenced by Johnny rushing here to report every headline from WaPo and every sound byte from CNN.

Perhaps they?re just hoping to be like half of that broken clock and that they?re bound to get something right. If that ever happens, I have no doubt it will serve as proof of any and all past and future allegations.

All I?m saying is?

DOJ has petitioned the court to unseal the warrant and receipt of property list. The public will know what's in it soon unless Trump can somehow successfully stop it.

Of note, Trump and his attorneys already have both and are under no obligation to keep them private, if they had wanted to they could have released them immediately.

Garland personally approved the FBI to seek the warrant. Made clear there was probable cause to do so.

"In these circumstances involving a search of the residence of a former President, the government hereby requests that the Court unseal the Notice of Filing and its attachment (Docket Entry 17), absent objection by former President Trump. "

Trump will object of course. He doesn't want anyone seeing this. We'll have to wait for the indictment to see what the deal was probably.

Oops, looks like you got this wrong too...Trump lawyers agree to public release of Mar-a-Lago search warrant for White House documents

from the piece:

Trump himself said late Thursday in a statement that he encouraged the warrant's release. On Friday, he posted on Truth Social that the documents were "all declassified" and the FBI "didn't need to 'seize anything.'"

"They could have had it anytime they wanted without playing politics and breaking into Mar-a-Lago. It was in secured storage, with an additional lock put on as per their request," Trump posted on Truth Social.

Let me be the first to say I'm surprised you didn't come here to admit you got this completely wrong, considering how you're obviously only concerned with the facts and due process...

Your political news sources seem to be about as reliable as your recruiting insiders...

In WaPo's defense, I did read an article of theirs that was not very alarmist at all. In fact, it said in so many words not to expect much unless there was blatant proof of treasonous intent, which is very difficult to do.

National Archives had to retrieve Trump White House records from Mar-a-Lago

While the law requires that presidents preserve records related to an administration?s activities, the Archives has very limited enforcement capabilities. The Presidential Records Act operates on the basis of a ?gentlemen?s agreement,? as one Archives official phrased it.

Stephen Gillers, a New York University law professor and constitutional scholar, along with other legal experts point to the potential for enforcement that could take place via federal records laws. But several said they thought such action would be unlikely.

?There is a high bar for bringing such cases,? said Charles Tiefer, former counsel to the House of Representatives who teaches at the University of Baltimore School of Law.

The whole thing just screams amateur hour to me rather than intentional espionage. Even if by some chance every liberal's wet dream came true and Trump went to jail, DeSantis would just pardon him in 2024 rendering all of it moot anyways.

I won?t mind too much of the Demoncrsts succeed in getting trump bared from running again, I want Desantis. The country needs Desantis. I would like to believe some of those demons will eventually be held accountable but I won?t hold by breath. There is no justice in a fallen world controlled by demons now is there

Really? After all that screaming about witchhunts and all that, you're now saying "Who cares? The ends justify the means."

At least that keeps you consistent with how Republicans viewed our Constitutional rights under Bush from 2001-2009...

I?m not saying who cares at all. It?s infuriating?just no longer have any faith demons will ever be held accountable. Time for the country to move on from the trump Hillary fight, only chicoms win, trump has only himself to blame for never locking her up.

The rest is just more get trump at all cost even if it destroys the country and brings about global Chicom equally assured misery for all.

Bunch of fucking idiots

I guess even WaPo can?t get everything wrong! But one article tempering expectations hardly excuses the other 99.9% of their biased, error riddled reporting. Also, I was using WaPo as sort of an amalgamation or catch all for leftist print/online media, sorta like Cory Booker?s ?T Bone.? I wasn?t trying to single them out.

I figured I shit on WaPo enough as well that I'd point it out.

Early evidence on the effectiveness of the Inflation Reduction Act...

The bill includes $7,500 in tax credits for electric vehicle purchases to make them more affordable - what a great idea, how could this fail given the government's track record picking industries and companies to subsidize? Anyway, Ford recently announced $6k-$8,500 price increases for it's electric vehicle lineup. GM raised the price of the electric Hummer by $6,250 as the bill moved through congress.

The baseline F-150 Lightning will cost $47k while the Platinum extended package will set you back $97k.

The new price makes the Lightning expensive by full-sized pickup standards and could thus harm demand, and perhaps harm it significantly.

Can someone explain to us how this reduces inflation as it seems to the uninitiated, these price hikes would be inflationary as the automakers are taking pretty much 100% of the tax credits in response to cost increases (inflation)...

Another poorly named bill, optics are everything but even still it's always weird when they're named in a deceptive(?) way. "Build Back Better Lite" would've been more honest as it's a stripped down version of that whole bill that never passed.

Good to see you're not a fan of corporate tax cuts like this though, I'm also not. Just make sure you apply that same disdain when the 'other side' does it.

I don't know all of the ins and outs...but if I understand the bill correctly, they increased taxes on large corporations (15% minimum tax rate) and passed some sort of tax on stock buybacks.

I've been clear for a long time about this - I'm more opposed to corporate welfare than social welfare. The government shouldn't be in the business of picking winners and losers - that goes for industries as well as individual companies. If the obvious conflicts or interest and potential for corruption aren't enough, their track record in this endeavor should be all anyone needs to see this.

which is incredibly stupid - creating more disincentives for companies to return money to shareholders. It's further perverting capital allocation - money won't be going to the best use as companies work to avoid excess (and illegal) double taxation.

The corporate tax should be zero and any and all income (wages, dividends, interest, etc) above a certain threshold (i.e. the poverty level) should be taxed at a flat rate for everyone. No carried interest, no double taxation of dividends/capital gains, companies won't have incentives to hoard cash or make low quality investments to avoid taxes. Nobody gets any tax shelters, no loopholes, no special interests. Tax returns can be filed on a form the size of a post card...the rich will still bear the vast majority of the tax burden.

and no child tax credits!

no deductions, period. Could be as simple as something like everyone pays 15% of their income over $50k/yr. technically, I guess that is a deduction, but everyone gets it. Dual income households would get 2 $50k deductions but only if both spouses worked and earned over $50k - simplest way is probably to have everyone with taxable income file separately.

it's a bit more complicated with entrepreneurs with long lived assets in their businesses. You may have to use something like MACRS for them, but for W2 wage earners it's as simple as it gets.

Rich people have more ways to get around paying any taxes at all. If that ever went away then we wouldnt have a tax/deficit problem anymore. After that then the govt would just need to figure out how to spend the money appropriately instead of giving it all to the military.

I always thought it funny when rich people complain about the nation being in a deficit....ask them how much taxes they pay and it quickly shuts them up.

Yeah, how often does this actually happen?

First of all how do you know that a person is rich or isn?t rich? Do people just tell you how much money they have?

And if they do how do you know it?s true?

And do people you know really bitch about the nation being in deficit? Where I live people talk about the Dodgers, then maybe the summer heat. I never say to anybody ?how you doing?? and get the answer ?not so good - it?s because of the nation?s deficit? or ?the nation?s deficit is really chapping my ass.?

And when people you know do complain about the deficit, do you really ask them how much they pay in taxes?

When was the last time anything like that actually happened?

If the answer isn?t ?never? I think you?re hanging with a weird crowd.
