Get Startedseveral possibilities
1) Luck is much better at getting him the ball than Stafford was
2) Quin is an idiot for letting him go
3) JBC is an idiot for not using him correctly
4) It's a fluke
There are only so many targets to go around. He was never more than a 4th option here. Indy has Hilton and....???
The Lions just didn't use him as much. His catch rate (57.7%) this year is slightly lower than his catch rate as a Lion (64.1%), and his ypc is 10.9 this year compared to 11.1 as a Lion.
The main difference is targets. His career high for a season is 86 targets in both 2016 (6.6 per game) and 2017 (5.4 per game). This year he's on pace for a whopping 139 targets and is currently sitting at 8.7 per game.
I can't see anything out of the ordinary (catch rate and ypc) that indicates he's much better, he's just being utilized way more. He's simply more of a priority target in Indy than he ever was in Detroit. There's also the outside chance that he may have worked on his game and improved as a player (it does happen sometimes).
The problem lies with the game planning on offense and is primarily why I didn't want the Lions to pay him, I was much more concerned with him not being used rather than his actual ability as a player.

Ebron is the #1 option for the colts right now. That's scary

He has more tds than our#1 option.

We should have re-signed him. Offense would have been so close to complete with a TE that can stretch the field. Quinn fucked that one up IMO....
There is a reason a "change of scenery" can often turn a guy around. If the guys isn't happy here, or thinks the team slighted him, or whatever, he doesn't play hard.
That's on the player. Not the team. Not the coaches. It's the player.
Plenty of players in the history of sports have been unhappy with the team for a myriad of reasons, and still go out and play their asses off, and leave then that contract expires. They go out like professionals.
Two things are now evident from seeing what Ebron is doing in Indy this year....
#1 He was probably good enough to be a Top 10 pick
#2 He never lived up to it, and it's not like the Lions didn't give him chances
He was a flop here because of him, and no one else.
