Ferguson, MO

You're only allowed to have an opinion on this if you are a state's attorney, licensed to practice in Minnesota, you have voted Republican all your life, donate $$$ to police causes, and have a brother AND a father who are cops.

Not any more. My opinion matters to the companies I buy from, and they will apply political pressure...scratch that, they will tweet based on what they think I want (which they know from spying on me with big data.)

I'm kinda surprised the Minneapolis PD didn't close ranks around Chauvin like PDs normally do in cases like this.

Either he really crossed some line, or the fact that we saw multi-racial protests nationwide, for weeks on end convinced the authorities there (police, DAs, & elected officials) that they couldn't just do the usual thing here, convene a grand jury to reassure public opinion for a news cycle, and eventually drop charges like they've been doing for decades, going all the way back to the 60's, if not farther

Cases like this?

Every cop I?ve heard comment to the media is appalled by what they saw that psychopath do.

Chauvin has single handedly made policing profoundly more difficult than it should be.

Police do - and should - hate the guy.

they're just mad he did it on camera.

anyways, an MPD police lieutenant just testified that kneeling on a suspect's neck to subdue them is not a part of police training at all. That's another blow to his defense.

I find you to be somewhat cynical at times.

I know, I know - said the pot to the kettle, right?

But, still...

I kind of hope that Chauvin gets convicted of the max, just to appease all of these assholes who want their pound of flesh. I think he ends up getting convicted of the lowest charge (manslaughter) which is probably what he actually deserves.

I won?t shed a tear if he goes away for the max.

If he don?t know that what he was doing was wrong at the time, he should go away.

Just heard a report that the jury has reached a verdict.

That?s in pretty fast.

So here at riot Central, a.k.a. Los Angeles, where it seems people riot just to stay in practice, we are standing by.

Seems to me that means the Book will be hurled.

IMO what really set this apart was Chauvin's complete lack of caring about Floyd. At no point did he even attempt a wellness check, let alone CPR. Instead he callously disregarded the input from the other cops. That is about as cold-blooded as I have seen a person behave in that situation. Zero remorse afterward as well. It is literally chilling to watch his behavior.

Wait ... he gets convicted on all counts, there are still riots????

100%

It plays into the victim mentality. "We told you so, you didn't listen, now you are going to pay the price!"

Of course, the places attacked are frequently owned by Black Americans. That is the really sad part IMO. They are rioting about the mistreatment to innocent Black Americans...by mistreating innocent Black Americans.

Yeah, what kind of person would watch a video of a cop choke another to death with his knee while the victim begs for mercy and pleads for his life, and expect justice in court? total bunch of assholes.

I mean, what kind of country have we become when a cop can't just slowly murder a man in broad daylight, in front of dozens of witnesses, and get away with it?

Honestly, I'm still surprised the Minneapolis PD didn't close ranks around him; we'll see how the appeal goes.

all three counts is overkill. he is probably guilty of the lowest count but the jury seeing the video is the difference.

I checked Fox News and didn't see any. You'd think they'd be all over it. It's still early though. If they can't find any, they should think about hiring some of those crisis actors to branch out into riot acting.

guilty on all counts. Let the celebratory riots begin!!

It?ll never be enough, the end goal is complete abolishment of law and order which will only lead to criminal gangs filing the vacuum and decent into max mad beyond thunder dome, then the Chinese invade and America falls. There are too many useful idiots in America

I will not be surprised if he appeals, any person in a similar situation would/should. I just hope the potential cases never actually get to court.

Not sure what angles are available, other than potentially claiming someone in that situation should only be charged with 1 of the 3 options as opposed to all 3 as it feels a bit like piling on. Not that this asshat doesn't deserve it, but I could see others being convicted of all 3 when they really should only be charged with 1, likely the most severe in more definitive cases like this one and the least severe in situation lacking this totality of evidence.

Did you know that pets and little kids have been getting sucked under and trapped by Peleton treadmills?

I?m not bullshitting; it?s been in the news.
