Since we're getting close to a Tigers playoff berth, this thread will keep track of the records of teams also in the playoff hunt.

As of 9/28/2011

Overall Standings
1. NY Yankees 97-65 (.599) (AL-E winner)
2. Texas 96-66 (.593) 1.0 GB (AL-W winner)
3. Detroit 95-67 (.586) 2.0 GB (AL-C winner)
4. Tampa 91-71 (.562) 6.0 GB (WC winner)

Final Seeding
1. NY Yankees 97-65
2. Texas 96-66 (1.0 GB)
3. Detroit 95-67 (2.0 GB)
4. Tampa 91-71 (WC)

Match-ups
NY Yankees (HFA) vs. Detroit
Texas (HFA) vs. Tampa

Since Boston's mini struggle it sure opens up the wild card race.

if we keep playing the way we've been,I'm not afraid of any of the A.L. teams, here or away.

Rather face the Rays than the Sox. If the Sox bats catch fire, they could pummel anyone in 3 straight.

I know the Tigers did will against the Rays but their pitching scares me more than Bostons hitting.

Rather the Yankees collapse and we play them. Verlander takes care of CC, and the rest of our playoff rotation is better than the yankees. Trust our bullpen more than theirs as well.

Valverde > Rivera (least this season)

i dont like matching up with the red sox. they play in a small yard...and can rake the ball. they can pitch well...and over 3-5 games can run some very strong arms out there. i hope they catch NY cuz i just don't think the yankees are that great with their arms. bats seem to silence in the post season.

Yea Tex/A-Rod both have had their playoffs struggles. And I don't pitching to Granderson in Comerica.

The Yankees have the best bullpen in the AL this season.

I think out bats lately are just as dangerous if not more than the Red Sox.

And right now their playoff rotation is suspect, with Buchholz out and Beckett still a question mark, that leaves Lester, Lackey, Miller, and Wakefield.

We would murder those guys.

But....I'd still rather face the Rays, we handled their pitching pretty well this year. and that was before our offense really caught fire.

Yankees, Tigers, and Rays won and the Angels lost
Tigers are now a half game behind Boston for 2nd best record in the AL

Barring a miracle, the Tigers should have their division wrapped up first in the AL (they could even have it wrapped up first in the MLB, the Phillies are sitting at a magic number of 5)

Unfortunately everyone in the top 6 but Tampa won yesterday

I agree with those saying they'd rather not face the sox...that lineup is killer.

I also would rather see the rangers win the AL West than the angels and have to deal with weaver/haren. Angels can't hit a lick but those two will keep them in every game they pitch.

So basically I'm pulling for the rays to pull a miracle comeback off and overtake the rays and or the sox just go nuts and overtake the yanks.

Top 3 in the AL East lost, everyone else at the top won. The Angels could pass TB for 2nd in the WC, but at this point they have a better shot at winning the West.

Tigers move into 2nd for best record in the AL, now 3.5 games behind the Yankees.

Huge series for the AL east this weekend with Boston and Tampa playing 4 starting today. A Tampa sweep results in a tie for the WC and a happy Yankees, a Boston sweep could put the pressure on the Yankees and Tampa would be, more or less, out of it.

Rangers and Angels play each other in the last series of the season, could be interesting if things stay close.

Updated

Boston and Detroit lost
Tampa and Texas won
LA and NY didn't play

The WC is looking to be an interesting race

If I remember correctly, if Texas and Detroit tie at the end of the season, Detroit gets the 2nd seed since they have the head-to-head record 6-3.

Perfect day for Boston, they win, Yankees, Angels, and Rays lose and they increase their wild card lead

A Tigers win moves them within 3 games of the Yankees now
