Fire Caldwell

He was too busy filling depth and backups and forgot about finding more starters. Now all the depth guys are starting and looking like a bunch of backups because they are.

The thing about the injuries is game 2, if we're ahead and cruising (with our injuries) why did they suddenly give it up? Defense played fine, with people hurt, for 3+ quarters.. Same for GB game.. I say we made the game closer because GB coasted but you insisted that wasn't true, how did the injuries effect the first half but not the second?

Abdullah and Williams and van noy all got hurt during that game. Then the wheels fell off with armbrister and cope land at lb

What about the back seven on defense? That's the worst part of our team. Only major injury is levy.

Levy and Bynes and bostic which leads to rookie Williams, armbrister and gooden on the field. And more van noy than we want.

Lack of pass rush hurts the secondary. Fact. Top 3 des hurt. We went over this

And Tavon Wilson hurt early in Green Bay game and missed bears game. So yes multiple back 7 injuries too

Lawson and Diggs can play better. They have proven they can. More pass rush will help them

And some halves of strong play in 3 games and 3 quarters of strong play in another. It hasn't all been bad like you all make it seem

Tell me where i said something wrong

Levy is retired
Bynes and Bostic are replacement level at best
1 DE worth a shit 2 other "top" DEs were/would be backups
Tavon Wilson replacement level at best
Lawson will no longer be in the NFL in two years and Diggs thrived in the slot when we were generating pressure upfront, until that happens he won't play better
A football game is 60 minutes not 15

The entire defense is devoid of star quality talent apart from Slay and Ansah when healthy. Kerry 'Sagat' Hyder has been a pleasant surprise but 4 games doesn't make a season, I'll reserve addin him to the list if he isn't a flash in the pan. And we lucked into him as a camp body. The rest are literally backup tier.

Depth players are backups lol. Quinn did a nice job of filling those role players in. This team is falling apart with injuries. Can't blame Quinn on that.
The only knock i have on Quinn so far is i thought they should have went Safety or LB earlier in the draft. Or even target one of those positions through FA. He waited and took Killebrew and Williams late in the draft. Then he brought in a bunch of question marks to "try" and fill those weak spots. It's good to know that he realizes how bad our Safety and LB positions are, but i just wish they would have shelled out some dough or picked one of those positions a little higher in the draft. Other than that?? Great job so far...

You said plenty wrong cheeno
Levy is not retired. Injured
Bynes did well last year. Good lb
Lawson has played starter caliber last year. Diggs was good. They need pressure

Taylor is good. See week 2 and last year. Then he got hurt before green bay game.

Gilberry has been hurt since week2. No wonder he sucked

Injuries at de and lb. Many of them hurts the defense so they dont play 60. They play 30-45 well

My point was he got depth players for positions that needed starters...and now we have backup level players playing lots of minutes.

Great job so far? The team is 1-3 and his first major decision, bringing back Caldwell, he flunked horribly. Top to bottom, the team is lacking talent.

He needs time before you can make any sort of decision on how he's doing as a GM.

I think we can pretty much all assume at this point that the decision to keep Caldwell did not come from Quinn.

I would sure hope that's the case.

If you look at the decision from Quinn's POV it was actually pretty smart. He lets Martha's guy stay which buys him a free year to get acclimated to the organization, learn the roster better than he would be able to from just tape, and inevitably keep his eye on available coaches and possibilities.

So you're telling me he has flunked horribly and you're not making any rash judgements??? Ahhhhhhhh i see lol.
I guarantee you that Quinn has a guy in the back of his head to take over as HC. Ahem...McDaniels or Patrician from the Patriots ;). He's giving Caldwell a chance but now he's on the hotseat. And he's done a solid job in his first draft. He did ok in free agency but it could have been better. My only knock on him. This is a 2-3 year plan. Nowhere to go but up...

His FIRST DECISION he flunked horribly. One of these things is not like the other.

He flunked. His first decision. He flunked. His first decision.

Extend stafford. Its happening

He's loyal to the Lions, but I think he's going to say enough is enough, and get the fuck out of here. 1 year of having a solid defense since he's been here, and didn't add another solid wr until CJ was on his last leg. They never built around him, never got him adequate protection, never supplied him with a consistent running game, and we wonder why the Lions don't succeed. Actually we don't wonder, we just blame it on Stafford. He will succeed elsewhere, just needs to get away from this inept organization.
