Fox News Audience

Back when Bill O and Olbermann were near the heights of the ratings pissing match some ratings group showed similar data -- that the systemic effort to characterize any media outside FoxNews as "biased" had somewhat backfired and had unintentionally mobilized more creative marketing mediums (see 2008/12 elections) for the more left leaning and often younger voters.

Not to confuse old white man run FoxNews with the more progressive outlets for the message from the right, ratings showed then that while FoxNews typically won nightly ratings (which it bragged about loudly as a network), it was because viewers of the opinions and views expressed by FN tuned into FN and only FN while "others" sought their news from either a variety of different sources, including FoxNews! due to the curiosity factor of seeing what Bill O and Glenn Beck (and others) were going to say next.

The general demographic aging for FN is probably in line with general declines in cable TV viewership, especially related to news programming. As folks turn to social media and other instant news sources more and more, cable TV viewership will become obsolete.

The funny thing about FN to me after basically two decades, is how it is both a winner and a victim of its own success. At a time, the 'Fair & Balanced' mantra really did resonate with Americans and cable TV created a pop culture for politics based on a cum-stained blue dress and chubby intern. Remember FoxNews rose in popularity *before* 9/11 and for anyone watching FN prior to then, the only topic was missing jogger Chandra Levy.

i think the real reason is because old white guys are the only viewing demographic sitting on cable news from 6 pm to 11 pm every night.

Wanna make a bet on that?

Double or nothing on the $1000 you already owe, Kid Rock

My wife in here travels with Phlebotomy with her work would comment time and time again about how 99.9% of all Old folks homes will have Fox Noise blearing on just about every TV.. Now multiple that by all of those homes in America and that is a lot of TV's

Brokers often have CNBC on for the market news but then there are the guys who have Fox Business on instead ...to prove a point!

Well, the times I've seen Fox Business on it seemed to me to be a lot more like CNBC than like Fox News Network...

Yeah, it's just the ..."won't watch those libs on NBC but watch Fox"

There must be a lot of old white men because they get the ratings..

Nobody likes Rick Santelli... Even at CNBC, but that is a classic

I thought the full recount of Florida conducted after everything was said and done showed that Bush actually did win.

you do realize cnn, fox and msnbc avg viewers are all over 60

What does "average" mean in this case? The average age?

And from where do you cite this?

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the news networks attract an older viewership than other programmers...but 60 sounds a little old to be the average age.

EDIT: On the other hand, according to this source, that appears to be the case. I don't know much about Stephen's Lighthouse, though.

So...if what this guy in the video says is right, we can quit crying about Fox News then, right? Might as well complain about the Inquirer. ...and if it's all true, at what point is their bigger role actually pro-Democrat. If they're only preaching to the choir on the right, they're not making a difference there, but they sure do serve as a rallying point for Dems.

Here's where we discover that Rupert Murdoch is the world most effective liberal. Everyone's been played.
