Big Ben has as many TD throws in two games as Stafford has all season

But they aren't true touchdowns. They don't count. Stafford smells better and his hair is pretty. <3 Matty - a true american hero.

I'm not the biggest Stafford fan, but what's the point of this thread? Big Ben just set a record for most TDs in consecutive games. That's wonderful, but despite all his TDs the Steelers are 6-3 while the Lions are 6-2. One of the knocks against Stafford has always been that he puts up great numbers, but doesn't get wins when it counts. Now that he's getting wins this year, we're going to knock him for not having numbers? Doesn't make much sense to me. I've always just asked for consistency in his decisions and accuracy above all else, and that's what's more concerning than a lack of TDs.

You don't need to throw 6 touchdown passes in a game to be successful. It's just stat inflating.

It's what they do. They'll bitch about the wins if he puts up numbers.....they'll bitch about the numbers if he puts up wins. It's old....but they continue to do it.

Russell Wilson didn't complete 50% of his passes yesterday and BARELY beat the fuckin 0-7 Raiders. I wonder what the "fans" on this board would say if Stafford did that?

I'll take W's!

Where are these great numbers Stafford has put up?
He has routinely been ranked middle of the pack, except one year.

ive said it for weeks....by all means keep winining like they are. I just don't think its a sustainable way to win games in the NFL. letting the other team fuck you up for 57 minutes then you play 3. but by all means...keep doing it.

And he still has as many TDs, less INTs, and better completion % compared to staff for the season.
That said I wouldn't expect anyone to claim Wilson played well yesterday

I fail to see to see your ultimate point. Is it QBs shouldn't be critiqued if the team is winning and thy shouldn't be held accountable if he puts up good yards in losses? Or is it Stafford is playing well this season and played well last year?

Because Matt is still below average. The 6-2 is mostly defense and that's great but honestly Matt hasn't done jack shit. And the consistency you ask for above all else is the reason he's below average. He's consistent.

Has nothing to do about TD's. His overall game has been lacking badly.

I don't disagree with any of that. Stafford deserves to be have his game critiqued, and I myself am not a huge supporter of his. I guess all I was trying to say is that it doesn't take 12 TDs in two games to be a good QB and it's not something we should be expecting or looking for out of Stafford. I didn't understand the point of the thread in general. You said yourself it has nothing to do about TD's...but that's what the original post was all about.

I'll take 25 TD's in a season..if it comes with 6 INT and a good completion % and a good YPA or thereabouts. And consistency in hitting the open guys, and not making bad reads. I think we all would..

But outside Tate the offense has been lackluster. Not just Matt but he's part of it and because he's the QB gets a lot of the blame. Just the way it is ..

Yep no argument here.

The point of the thread was all the Stafford slappys always have an excuse as to why Stafford is average. No one is saying he needs to throw 6 td's a game, but people on this board like to call him elite. Elite is not throwing just over 1 td a game.

I think there is only one person on this board that thinks he is elite. I think 90% of the posters feel that Stafford is an above average QB which means in that 12-15 range.

I wish he was in that 12-15 range.

Manning finished 34-of-57 passing for 438 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He made mistakes, considered a really bad game for him and after he says "I've got to play better" and Loss "starts with me".

He's a QB, he understands. Defense gives up 43 points and he's blaming himself..

Stafford is playing just as good as 2013 first half.
16 TDs, 2 rushing TDs, 6 other player rushing TDs drives, 12/15 FGS

2014
11 TDS, 2 rushing TDs, 4 other playing rushing TD drives, 9/19 FGs.

Turnovers 6 picks (1 not his fault) and 3 fumbles lost in 2013 through 8 games, 2014 7 ints (3 not his fault) and 1 fumble loss (not his fault) through 8 games.

So Lions have 7 less TDs, but 4 more FG attempts and 1 less turnover on Stafford (plus several more not Staffors fault). 8 his fault last year, 4 his fault this year. They are playing tougher defenses this year and he's doing it without Calvin, much less protection than 2013, much less run game support than he had in 2013.

Stafford is a very good QB. And he has a better record (6-2 compared to 5-3). Stop taking him for granted.
