Here's my take on the whole game
The offense came out and ran the the ball down their throats. Then we abandon the run game. Swift is the real deal. Williams is a great complement. Offensive Line was dominate.
Goff looked bad to start then gave us what we should expect. Goff is never going to dominate a game. He is an average nfl quarterback, nothing less nothing more.
Receivers have to do a better job on drops. Drops killed momentum all day.
Defensive Line is getting more pressure than past years. Didn't result in sacks with Hurts escaping every time.
Rodrigo is a good young LB. It doesn't bode well that he is our best LB. AA is trash. Board is serviceable.
Okudah and AO played well. I will have to watch again but seemed Ike AJ Brown did most of his damage away from them. Depth is going to be an issue.
Special teams were solid.
Coaching lost this game. The fact that we didn't continue to pound the ball down their throat is a failure on the offense. We were up 7-0 with the ball and the ability to walk down the field like we did all day when Swift was carrying the ball and Goff was limited. A TD there changes the entire game. AG never had any answers for Hurts. Philly has a great offensive line. Give them some credit. But the defense has to get better.
Only teams to score more than Lions week 1
Chiefs and Eagles. And Eagles had the pick 6 to do that
Pick 6 on pressure allowed by 3rd string rg stenberg.
Wait, what?
Does that mean the Lions lost two games in week 1?
To the Eagles AND the Chiefs?
That don?t seem right!
Not even for the Lions!

Sort of
That is not exactly like it happened. When we got the ball back up 7-0 the Eagles adjusted their defense to stop the run. I agree you can?t Abandon the run but the eagles were stopping the run then. I think we had 3 straight three and outs followed by a pick 6. Seems like the Eagles adjusted and the lions offense didn?t. Offense got better as the game went on.
Other issues
Defense was bad.
Drops killed us.
Missed tackles killed us
The pick 6 the tight end and qb were not on the same page.
Onside kick was stupid. Too early and at least dribble it.
Clock management was putrid by Campbell.
Coaches need to watch the chiefs Kelce highlights from that game.... stop running hock on 2 yard outs.
Offense played well enough to win.
Defense is a trash fire. Need to add talent at all 3 levels, we need a stud LB and Safety more than anything.
Hoping Hutchinson just had some 1st game jitters and was going against an elite O Line, because we cannot afford for him to not be an impact player.
Orunwariye had a rough game. But Okudah had a great comeback game. Charles Harris was really good at DE. DTs are nothing more than average. Rodriguez made some plays at LB, b ut Anzelone over runs everything.
Philly is one of the top teams in the NFC, nice come back by the Lions to make it close. The offense was a few dropped passes from really humming against what's supposed to be a good defense.
PFF grades are out. Some highlights below:
Highest overall grade on defense: Rodriguez - 73.4
Lowest overall grade on defense: Barnes - 29.4
Highest overall grade on offense: Swift - 82.3
Lowest overall grade on offense: Stenberg - 25.9
Other notables
Sewell - 79.8
Elliott - 70.7
Goff - 49.5
Ragnow - 48.8
Thor - 40.3
Hutch - 56.3
Still digging in, just some overall grades for now.
Surprised our 3rd string RG did so bad
Rodrigo showing out
Barnes is basically a slower Jarrad Davis at this point but he is still new at the position. Disappointing
I get the vet LB love for the staff but Anzalone is not the vet LB you want
Will be interested to see Okudah's grade. Thought he did solid at least/borderline good
