Game 1: Lions @ Chargers Thread

Suh is a master at blurring the lines between intentional and unintentional

Either these unintentional events look worse because he's under a microscope or he's really just a dirtbag, the latter seems like a strong possibility.

That looks like hes tripping. ....but then a helmet flies 5 yards off the guys head lol.

Looks to me like incidental contact. He's trying to get up and walk off and his leg gets the face mask. I don't see anything that resembles a kick at all.

Lol. Looks like the Aaron Rodgers incident all over again. It looks avoidable but intentional at the same time. He could have avoided Morris' helmet but he chose to come across his grill with his leg/foot. Like mentioned before, Suh is a master at these moves lol. Bet he gets nothing from this....but he should? I don't even know lol

If you look, his leg is moving away from Morris and his shin hits the facemask.

If he's trying to kick him, why is the leg bent the wrong way. The foot in not extended at Morris at all, it's the opposite.

If he's trying to kick him, he's the most uncoordinated professional athlete ever. Then again, I remember his PAT attempt... he may have been trying to kick him.

I don't think he's trying to full on boot him in the head. To me, it looks like it was avoidable. He didn't have to step over Morris and it looks like he just swipes his leg/foot across his helmet. Suh is dirty, but he's a snake...lol. There's a method to his madness and he does it where we all scratch our heads lol. Look at Morris' reaction too. One of those "cmon man" moments. That's why its so hard to penalize him. There will be a group of guys looking at this video and scratching their heads knowing it was probably intentional, but can't really prove it...lol. Almost genius....

It appears he may be looking down at Morris as he does it. I would lean towards the side of intentional.

Not sure I see much on the next one. I don't see where he is purposely poking him in the eye. Looks like #75 is grabbing his facemask at the same time on the double team. This one appears to Suh getting blame because he is Suh.

However he always seems to find himself around these players, I'm sure part of it is because people pay more attention, but when you are always around them, time to think it is probably you.

Anyone else take issue with the onside attempt? I know it's easy to say afterwards, but I've always been against the "trick type" plays. I still think the traditional way is the best way to go, Kick it where most the bodies are and hope there is a chance to recover. More people going after the ball the better chance you have at two sets of hands getting there at the same time.

Also QB stat of the day:
Stafford vs non Prevent Defense:
13/23 56.5% 163 Yards, 1 TD, 2 INT, 57.0 Rating

No issues with the onside for me. It's worked in the past and it looked like they just missed it. One of the hardest feats in football IMO

Has it worked, don't remember that play. I'm fine with the surprise onside kick. It just when everyone knows an onside is coming I dislike trying to get tricky at that point.

I realize the chance is slim regardless, but there wasn't a chance to recover this one. It was either going out of bounds or being recovered by Chargers.

It is very tough on the kicker to get that good high bounce necessary when he fakes one way and goes the other. Just seems to me the coaching staff was trying to be smarter than everyone else.

Maybe, but at that moment, the coaching staff should have been laughed out of the stadium. It was an embarrassing effort on the coaching staff. Outcoached, outsmarted and out of their element in the second half. I'm not putting it all on the coaching staff, but that might have been one of the worse choke jobs to date. Wtf was Austin doing all game? Just watching Allen completely own Mathis? Make the fucking switch!! Double him!! Do something!! Make an attempt. And I don't even want to get into the Lombardi discussion.
