Game 1: Lions @ Chargers Thread

I am really starting to worry about Caldwell, Lombardi and Austin.. They were freaking all abused in the second half.. Tony is right Austin had no clue what's so ever in that half. Lombardi is in a league all by himself. One of the worse game managers I have seen. He never seems to know when to run and or throw the ball.

Yeah. I never understand why you don't stick with what's good? Abdullah is doing well, you have the lead, and then you just stop giving him the ball?

Coaches looked confused the whole second half. That happens and it's a trickle down effect to the players.....

1. ToP killed the D
2. Said after PS3 Tully should only play on obvious run situations, today showed why.
3. Every team will run crossing routes to control ToP and eventually score unto Austin figures out how to stop them. PS3 exposed this to be true, regardless of how PS doesn't matter.
4. Riddick did great vs their Prevent...which means nothing. Zenner is their #3 back, but Riddick is still a solid 3rd down back...but AA can do as well or better on 3rd once be bad blocking figured out. Could have traded Riddick before PS3 a d gotten something, but his value drops every game, even with yards in garbage time. Bell is still good, but not yet back to old self, if he ever will. Zenner should get more plays till Bell is back to old self.
5. The team will only win if Stafford is healthy. Even a slight ding to a wing can result in a complete collapse, especially with an OC who cannot make adjustments, but outsmarts himself on a consistent basis.
6. Mathis is no longer a 1st string DB.

It's always the coaches.

No, it's not, but it's part of it. Austin couldn't figure out how to stop Allen and Lombardi crawled into a fucking shell. Open your eyes....they were outcoached. Caldwell too. Players get the blame as well...no fire and killer instinct to boot...execution was awful later in the game.

Lombardi needs to go

It isn't just Lombardi. It's Caldwell. It's the same reason we saw Jeremy Ross playing wideout so much last year, and theo riddick sat the bench despite making huge plays in limited time consistently. Calvin Johnson was barely thrown a jump ball in the red zone last year. They have basically removed that play from the playbook. ameer isn't being utilized, Calvin isn't being utilized. Golden Tate is the only player we make a constant effort to get the ball into his hands for. Not to mention the oline has been playing clueless for two years now. Wtf is this ignoring the defensive end right in front of you bullshit? Multiple times!?

That's the Caldwell way.

I always hate watching them shit the bed like that. The schedule looks even harder now. I could see a long losing streak to start the season. @minn, den, @sea, ari then maybe beat the bears. Ugh!

Defense couldn't get off the field. Created 3 turnovers and still gave up 480 yards.

Total plays: SD - 74, Lions 47
Time of Possession: SD - 38:12, Lions 21:48

It would pretty much be an impossibilty to start the season 1-3 or 0-4 and make the playoffs. Not to overact to Game 1 of the season but this was a huge loss...especially considering we had an 18 point lead. Next week seems like a must win against the Vikes for sure.

Don't worry.

"This team is holeless. Top 5 offense, top 5 defense and Stafford with a 100 QBR. 12 win most likely result"
