Game 115: Tigers @ Blue Jays, August 10th

Took a nap after the 12th inning

At 6 hours and 37 minutes, Sunday's game was the second-longest game by time in Tigers history.
It marked Detroit's first 19-inning game since April 27, 1984.

Indians 8 - Tigers 4. Lou 3 hits, Tram 2 hits.

The game fell 23 minutes shy of matching the longest game in Tigers' history, which lasted 7 hours on June 24, 1962.

Yankees 9 - Tigers 7: Colavito got 7 hits. Kaline was still out from his broken collarbone from game saving catch 5/26.

Found this on mlive....I had a chuckle.

Detroit Free Press: "Dombrowski not concerned with the Tigers' lack of offense"

Little Big Horn News: "Custer not concerned with a few Indians"

Gonna take a personal break from the Tigers over the next week or so. I did this earlier in the year towards the end of their 9-20 skid in May/June. I'm a firm believer that even the worst slump will be met with a nice hot streak. Vice versa when it comes to the Royals (hopefully they lose 6 of their next 7 or so).

Just gotta take my mind off what I've been seeing lately. Maybe they'll bust out of this in the interim. :(

Also coming up are Krol (for some reason) and Justin Miller. Dunno how various roster moves will work out.

B. Holaday (42 PA) .244 OBP .167 SLG .411 OPS 10.5 PA/BB

In 2013 Miguel Cabrera hit with runners on base 49.8% of the time. This year, it is only 41.4% of the time.

M. Cabrera 49.8% vs 41.4% (-8.4%)

A. Avila 49.6% vs 46.3 (-3.3%)

V-Mart 47.8% vs 46.3% (-1.5%)

DET Team 46.9% vs 43.5% (-3.4%)

T. Hunter 45.6% vs 45.8% (- 0.2%)

Clearly DET has suffered from the lack of getting anyone on base in front of Miggy. Kinsler only having 2 walks in his last 162 Plate Appearances is a joke. I am sorry, but when is he going to be moved down in the order?

In the last 40 games, R. Davis and I. Kinsler has totaled 7 stolen bases. That would mean 28 stolen bases for the year for them both.

Rajai absolutely needs to lead off against LHP. However, he or Kinsler shouldn't even be in the top two spots against RHP.

well, Miggy and V mart have been average at best since that time anyway (Miggy .750 OPS and V Mart .777) Even if guys got on base better Miggy and VMart may not have drove them in.

2014

Bases Empty

Cabrera .346 OBP .481 SLG .827 OPS

Men On Base

Cabrera .389 OBP .550 SLG .939 OPS

2011-2013 None On versus Men On Base

Cabrera .397 OBP .570 SLG .967 OPS vs .458 OBP .652 SLG 1.110 OPS +143 Points

Martinez .345 OBP .403 SLG .748 OPS vs .389 OBP .498 SLG .887 OPS +139 Points

Just about all players have better numbers when there are men on base in front of them. Not sure why you would think there wouldn't be any difference in production.

Would you attribute that to the pitcher throwing from the stretch rather than the windup?

because they were well below their season numbers in that stretch. .750 for Miggy which INCLUDES his numbers with men on base.
