FIVE FOR FRIDAY.
Totally Tigers
The Detroit Tigers’ roster continues to change as stopgap contracts end and young prospects come up from Toledo. The franchise has a record number of top 100 MLB prospects who should be seeing Detroit within the next 1-2 years.
And as such, there will be a number of players on this roster who won’t be here in a couple years.
There will be different evaluation methods for who stays and who goes when it comes to pitching and positional players. Today, we’re going to focus on the latter.
Which positional players are most likely to still be on the roster in 2 years – the 2027 season? Since this is Friday, our list is only going to include the 5 most likely.
As I considered the list, I kept these qualifiers in mind:
1. age.
2. player’s agent (automatic disqualifier if it is Scott Boras and the player is close to becoming a free agent).
3. team’s fast-track system that is focusing on developing catchers, middle infielders quickly.
4. current rookies struggling.
