A thoroughly unwatchable three-game series of baseball ended Wednesday night in much the same fashion it began, with the Detroit Tigers getting beaten badly by the Rangers.

It started with right-hander Anibal Sanchez getting smacked around before leaving the game with an injury. It spiraled out of control in the bottom of the sixth inning when the Tigers? bullpen reared its ugly head again, complemented by incompetent defense again. It will go down as a 12-6 loss, their their 10th loss in the past 12 games.

Sanchez could not shake his home run woes, allowing a pair of two-run shots to nullify the Tigers? offensive output.
Sanchez departed with left hamstring tightness. He allowed five hits, struck out one and walked one.

Walks, home run balls, sloppy defense, more bullpen pyrotechnics and an injury ? just a whole lot of ugly.

Kinsler leads off deep: Leading off for the Tigers, Kinsler hit the second pitch of the game from Hamels into the left-field seats for a home run. It was his sixth leadoff home run of the season and 46th of his career, tied for fourth all-time with Jimmy Rollins.
Then after taking his position at second base in the bottom of the first received an on-field handshake from the longtime umpire who he said should get another job.

A day after Kinsler's harsh and extended criticism of Angel Hernandez, the umpire was working second base for the series finale. Kinsler was ejected from the opener Monday when questioning balls and strikes during the middle of an at-bat while Hernandez worked behind the plate, and the second baseman lashed out the following day.

The Tigers twice in the first three innings had two-run leads against Hamels (8-1), who had allowed only one unearned run over 16 innings while winning his first two starts this month. The ace left-hander gave up four runs and eight hits with a season-high five walks in six innings.

Kinsler led off the third with a walk before Mikie Mahtook's homer.

OVERTURNED
Miguel Cabrera was initially called safe at second base by Hernandez when trying for a double in the seventh. The Rangers challenged the call, and Cabrera was already back in the dugout before umpires had completed the review of the replay. SS Andrus took RF Mazara's strong throw and tagged Cabrera on the back just before he got to the bag.

Starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez exited after only 2 1-3 innings because of left hamstring tightness. He had a 3-0 count on Mazara after allowing the homer to Beltre.

Against the trio of Joe Jimenez, Daniel Stumpf and Drew VerHagen, the Rangers scored four times on three hits, a walk and a hit by pitch.

The Tigers used seven relievers over 5 2/3 innings. They allowed eight runs on 12 hits in the team?s fifth sweep of the season.

The Tigers allowed 17 hits, including four home runs. They walked seven batters. They were outscored, 26-12, in the three-game series and are 14 games under the .500 mark for the first time since the second-to-last game of the 2015 season. It was the Tigers' 20th game in 20 days and their fourth straight loss.

Sanchez, who has allowed nine home runs in his last three starts (11 1/3 innings), gave up a two-run home run to Nomar Mazara, a bullet off the foul pole in right field (408 feet) in the second inning, as well.

The Tigers bullpen would surrender eight runs over the next five innings.

kittens were beaten 28-12 over the worthless series. I followed the game on worthless gamecast, it did not keep up. But painfully tried to keep up. BTW that's Twenty Eight runs brad in three games, growing pains fcol it's the second half 5th month in the season, it's not the bp as much as the starters have been just as bad! Last 8 games best starter 6.35 ERA! some have left the planet. Team era 7.70
