WATERCOOLER WEDNESDAY.
Totally Tigers
After Monday night’s game, the Detroit Tigers reached .500 for the first time since June 5th. Since July 1st, they have a record of 28-20. That is 2 months of playing above .500 ball.
If you include the month of April, the Tigers have played above .500 for half the season.
Of note is that during this time, the Tigers lost many of their crucial players to the IL including Riley Greene, Kerry Carpenter and Parker Meadows. Since the end of July, they’ve been working with only 2 remaining starting pitchers and a mix of bullpen relievers.
With 30 games remaining, they need 13 more wins to break last year’s win-loss record. It would also be the best year of performance since 2016.
Potentially, 21 more wins would propel them past the win record of 2016.
Putting this year’s performance into context, and comparing it to the past 8 years, how impressed are you with how this team has started to play during the 2nd half of the season?
