Game 16: Packers @ Lions Thread and end of season grades, reviews, etc.

i think our Oline is good enough...couple upgrades wouldnt hurt and they have a decision on Glasgow...but its not a bad oline.

DLine isnt far off...they need 1 guy opposite Flowers. Which is Hand but he wasnt healthy all year.

Its the Lbs that are pure garbage. Specifically OLB. Which they did address in Kennard and Okwara....but they just arent good enough.

Our LB corp may be the worst I?ve ever seen. There is such a void in talent there it?s unbelievable. Davis does one thing well, which is blitz......something we never do. Jones is garbage....Kennard is playing DE and he?s average at best. Longa sucks. JRM seems to be athletic enough but never sees the field. Jalani Alma-Francis is ok.....and can improve.

It?s horrible.

Kittle was on the team last year. So was Garoppolo, their coach and their GM.....and they still went 4-12.

Anything else?

The coach & GM were building a team. They have a bunch of draft picks from the past 2 years that are big time contributors. By all accounts, it appears that the Lions past 2 drafts were busts. The 49ers have 6 players from those two drafts that are starters with 2 or 3 having all pro potential. I don't see any impact players on the Lions with the exception of Golladay.

As far as Garoppolo, I think he only played in 2.5 games in 2018 (Stafford 8 this year)...so that is part of the reason for the 49ers 4-12 season just like it is part of the reason for the Lions 3-12-1 record. However, do you have ANY faith that Quinn will have as much success in the draft as the 49ers have had and ANY faith in Matty P that he is a good coach? Based on their track record...I sure don't

Ok? we need both of those. And CB, OT or WR probably is the pick at 3 if Young is gone. Or a trade down.

Jeudy, Okudah or 1 of 3 OTs all rated around there.

If they draft a fucking WR, Martha needs to change the locks on Quinn's keys.

If they draft a fucking WR, Martha needs to change the locks on Quinn's keys.

exactly. I can see them taking one later in the draft...maybe the 3rd or 4th round. From what I have read this is supposed to be one of the deepest WR drafts in a long time.

Detroit Lions Podcast Episode 248 ? Lions Close The Books On 2019. 84 minutes

In this live episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris pulls out all the stops and brings you the show on his own. Chris flies solo to wrap up our post game coverage of the Detroit Lions 2019 season. It?s just Chris and the callers, discussing another near miss, this time against the Green Bay Packers at Ford Field. We also look ahead to the offseason and begin to share some of our plans on what?s ahead for the show.

Detroit Lions Podcast Closing The Books On 2019.
This was a game where across the board fans seemed ready to lose at the outset. After all there were draft picks at stake. There was a lot to gain by losing. By halftime, folks were ready to join the Lions players and coaches in celebrating a win over the Packers. Instead we lost our second game of the season to Green Bay. A most interesting stat, the Lions lost 2 games to them this season and were behind for exactly zero seconds total. It?s always something in this series. It feels like there can?t be other ways to be on the short end of this match-up. Longtime fans know that of course there are.

Chris takes your calls to the Detroit Lions Podcast throughout the show. We work through what we saw from the team this year and where we need to go. We also discuss what we should expect in the offseason. From there we start letting folks know about our plans for the Shrine Game, Senior Bowl, and Combine coverage for 2020. There?s more to come, but we want folks to consume everything in digestible bites. It?s going to be a lot.

Pride Of Detroit Lions Podcast Farewell 2019 Detroit Lions, Farewell Chris, Farewell 3 key players? 87 minutes.
It?s a somber season finale for the PODcast.

This week?s PODcast is a somber one. While we?re all grateful that the 2019 season has finally come to an end, and the Detroit Lions are in a prime position to get good value out of the 2020 NFL Draft with the third overall pick, it?s time to say some tough goodbyes.

Saying goodbye to a 3-12-1 season will be far from tough, but the end of the season could mean the end of Lions careers for three key players headed in three different directions. Graham Glasgow seem to already have one foot out the door for free agency. Damon Harrison Sr. is suddenly seriously considering retirement, just months after signing an extension through the 2021 season. And Darius Slay, who was at the forefront of trade rumors in October, could still be headed in that direction.

Then, of course, we have to say our own personal goodbye to the founder of the PODcast. Chris Perfett is being forced out of his position as podcast host by way of unfortunate circumstances, and he deserved a proper send off.

We?ve got all of that, plus some draft talk and some Lions vs. Packers recap in this week?s PODcast. Give it a listen:

This week on the PODcast:
Lions fans got the best of both worlds: An entertaining, competitive game against their biggest rival, and a loss that gave them a top-three pick.

The Lions have a running game?

Sunday?s game was a perfect encapsulation of the season: Blown leads, devastating injuries, and just enough promise to get your hopes up.

What does the future hold for Darius Slay, Damon Harrison Sr., and Graham Glasgow? What does that say about the Lions?

We say farewell to Chris.
