Pride Of Detroit Lions Blog PODcast celebrates, hedges a Lions win. 71 minutes.
Sloppy and daredevil, but when you put it in the win column it?s enough on the day. Let?s PODcast.

Sometimes you just fly in banged up and bruised and all worse for year, and maybe that?s good enough. You?re just hanging on with a foul breath but as long as the boss don?t smell it you?re fine.

That?s where we are with this Lions victory. We?re still going to play ?Africa? and all, but maybe make a trip to the restroom to wash your face and hide the bags under your eyes, yeah? This was a rough one, but pretty fun.

For PODcast, this was also our first foray into a live digital audience by simulcasting on our Twitch channel. A lot more dynamic stuff, a lot more chances for hijinks and fun and everything that makes our PODcast special. Let?s go.

This week on the PODcast:
WE DID IT LIVE.

WE GOT A WIN.

Yeah but in hindsight, maybe not a great indicator for the future of the team?s season.

In the monologues, we explain our fears and hopes for what was different from this game and the Cardinals tie.

Position report cards get a little rough?especially for special teams.

Is Tyrell Crosby actually better than Taylor Decker for the offensive line?

Darius Slay was really good this game?but you wouldn?t know it looking at the box score. We explain why.

Thanks to Twitch chat, mailbag is back! We talk about Melvin Gordon?s ill-advised tweets, Ty Johnson, Trey Flowers, how to find hope (ANY HOPE AT ALL) against the Kansas City Chiefs and the best places to get hot dogs.

You see a real difference in the way the pats gameplan and us. Pats take out your top weapon... every week. All we did is put slay 1v1 on Allen and he got smoked all game. Weird coming from a former pat "genius."

Jalen Ramsey wants out of J'ville.

He got into it with HC Marrone during yesterday's loss vs Texans.

They are purportedly willing to trade him but want a first rounder and maybe more in exchange.

KEY QUESTIONS: How have Lions improved from Week 1 to Week 2?
Lions.com

Darius Slay?s entire 4th quarter vs. Chargers was dominant.
The veteran cornerback redeemed himself by securing the win after a bumpy start.
Stealing the show is nothing new for Detroit Lions star cornerback Darius Slay. After all, he?s called ?Big Play? Slay for a reason. But part of what made Sunday?s performance unique was his complete 180?from outmatched to back on top.
Pro Football Focus gave Slay the lowest coverage grade of his career at 27.7 in the first three quarters against the Los Angeles Chargers. He was beat time and time again by star receiver Keenan Allen?Philip Rivers? No. 1 target who he threw to 15 times on Sunday.
"Big Play" Darius Slay certainly lived up to his nickname with a game-sealing INT in Week 2.

4th Quarter:
91.5 Coverage Grade (3rd-highest in career)
1/3 11 Yards 1 INT 5.6 Passer Rating Allowed.
Quarters 1-3:
27.7 Coverage Grade (Lowest of career)
5/8 70 Yards 90.6 PR Allowed.

Slay then completely turned things around in the fourth to earn the third-highest coverage grade of his career at 91.5. A big part of that, of course, was this pivotal interception with about a minute left in the game:
Darius Slay rated his all-time favorite INTs after the game.
1 -- Minnesota 2016
2 -- Today
3 -- Philly 2016
The Lions went on to win, 13-10. Slay said this was his second favorite of his 18 career interceptions in 91 games.

Detroit Lions Podcast Episode 225 ? Lions Undefeated After Two. 67 minutes.

In this episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris and Case bring you the latest Lions news after the nerve wracking win over the Chargers. Very few thought that this team would be undefeated after two games this season, and we tell you why the trend could continue. We take a look at the Lions Defense, Special Teams, the offense (and the offensive line in particular). We discuss some late breaking roster changes, take a look ahead at the Eagles, and go Around the Division.

Detroit Lions Podcast Victory Party!
First things first, we discuss the Lions victory against the Los Angeles Chargers. It was a messy game, but there is a lot of good to take away from it. Most importantly, the Detroit Lions came away victorious and surprised a lot of fans who were still stunned from the previous week?s tie. We also admit our surprise at Jamal Agnew remaining on the team at this point. Something more than Amendola taking reps has to change, and we expect to see some more J.D. McKissic on the field.

When news breaks, we cover it. We react to the CJ Anderson cut and Paul Perkins pickup as well as what it might mean to the team. There are a few nice little insider nuggets in this conversation too?

From there the Detroit Lions Podcast discusses Matthew Stafford and his interceptions in the last game. There have been a number of discussions about them and we want to be sure to bring some context and sanity to the discussion. This leads us to a discussion about the offensive scheme and an early report card on Darrell Bevell with a comparison to Jim Bob Cooter?s portfolio of work.

We take a moment to discuss the tight end situation in Detroit. This is a story of riches and not a cautionary tale. It?s so nice to finally see great tight ends in Detroit again.

Comparing NFC North Quarterbacks And Including Eli Manning
Next the Detroit Lions Podcast goes over the current rankings of the NFC North quarterbacks with the New York Giants backup quarterback included.

We take a few moments to delve into the predictions for the upcoming Eagles game. For the second week in a row, it may be a heck of a lot more winnable than we thought even 3 weeks ago.

We also take you around the division to look at our competition and to ascertain where we might stand after the second week of football.

Let us know what you think about the show by commenting in the podcast thread in the subreddit, or by leaving us a voice mail message via Skype at: Detroit Lions Podcast Your input will help make the show better, and if you leave us a message on Skype, you just might be featured in an upcoming Detroit Lions Podcast!
