If AJ actually lifted Carpenter for Kreidler without a better reason than defensive replacement with him coming up in the next inning in a tie game, we didn’t deserve to win this one. I hope he gets asked about it in the post-game interview.

I didn’t listen but tv broadcast thought he may have hurt something. They were not sure.

I know bunting is supposed to be to be bad. But ZM already has 3 hits. Why not have him lay one down and try to beat it out ? He can handle the bat. We tie game on Torks fly ball if AJ does this. I just don’t get why sacrificing down 1 run is bad.

If Carpenter has to sit for a while (sore hamstring alluded to post-game by Hinch), we won't have much to counter the Padres with. There simply isn't any depth on this team to counter all the injuries. The Padres have 6 guys hitting above .300 (4 of them over .340), and only one below .200 in the normal lineup.

Because it has proven it doesn't work. Sure sometimes, but overall it fails. And don't forget the ML players these days don't know how to bunt, generally. Plus if the player was on 3rd, there is no guarantee Tork still hits a fly ball. Still a successful series.

I guarantee if this was a playoff game he would been bunting. Situations matter. The numbers may say you guys are right and I keep agreeing to switch my thinking to your ways but he foul pop out to third and failed to move runner over. Just not productive.
Maybe he had a great at bats today. But like Greene he failed to move the runner 90 feet when it counted…Frustrating. Like Bo blowing that dodger game. Colt blowing that Mariners game and today that makes 3 i am 90% sure we should have won.
