Game 25: Cleveland @ Detroit 5-1-2017

NOTABLE:
Collins is in the midst of a brilliant homestand. In addition to his three-run home run, he also walked and singled on Monday night. He's now reached base in 15 of 26 plate appearances in the homestand.

Tigers starter Daniel Norris allowed only one run in six innings, striking out eight, against one of the league's top offenses. So count it as a good -- maybe even really good -- start.
But walks were still an issue. He issued four of them, including an especially frustrating one to light-hitting second baseman Michael Martinez to lead off the third inning.
Martinez was wiped out by a double play, but the Indians ultimately scored their only run of the game against Norris in that inning.

Avila reached base twice in four plate appearances, maintaining his team-high on-base percentage of .510 (25-for-49).

On a high fastball, Victor Martinez pushed a bunt down the third base line and was indeed safe. It was the first bunt base hit of his career, spanning 1,757 games, according to STATS, Inc.
He doubled in the first inning and singled into space ? once again vacant because of a shift ? in the eighth. It was his second three-hit game of the season. He has hit safely in 10 of the last 13 games.

The Tigers have scored 51 runs in 58.2 inning in 11 games against Bauer and they got started early.

Over his last 16 games, Upton is hitting .333, with five doubles, five home runs and 14 RBIs.

Collins, who had a pair of hits, has been hot, as well. He?s hit .476 in his last six games ? 10-for-21 ? with three doubles, a homer and six RBIs.

Webvideo Highlights of the Tigers Win over the indians.

ROARS:
Daniel Norris: His command was wonky at times but he managed to put in six innings of one-run ball. He struck out eight but those four walks were a prime example of him still having trouble consistently locating pitches.

Tyler Collins: Blasted his second homer of the season into right field, a three-run 430-footer to give the Tigers a 5-0 lead in the second. He also walked and singled.

Victor Martinez: Had a two three-hit night with a run, and a bunt.

Anibal Sanchez: He had two clean innings ? not a misprint.

HISSES:
Banned and locked in the cellar.

STREAKS AND INFO:
Victor Martinez?s bunt single was the first of his career. #weirdbaseball
