Game 26: Cleveland @ Detroit 5-2-2017

Because that runner means absolutely nothing so it makes ZERO difference in the outcome of the game.

If you throw him out the game is over though. So if the run really means nothing, what do you have to lose by trying to throw him out?

Boogerlovejoy is right we need a new name for K-rod..maybe it will reverse jinx him and get him on a roll. Not that I believe in that crap.

We are just sayin like 1 out of say 50 times put a play on. May save a run. You may get him out and end the game. I understand what your saying.

He not that fast gun him down. Keep the force at second as well should the ball be hit deep to short!

Alright.....I'll play the what if game.

If you hold him on he doesn't run, that takes the chances of throwing him out to zero%.

To hold him on you also have to have your 1st baseman on the bag.....and if he's on the bag against a pull hitting left handed hitter......that reduces his chances of making a play on a hard hit ball.

Webvideo Highlights of the Tigers Win over the indians.

ROARS:
Miguel Cabrera: In his first game off the disabled list, Cabrera launched a two-run home run to left in the third inning, after he nearly went yard in the first on a long flyout to right.

Justin Verlander: Limited the damage on a cold May night where the temperatures barely topped 45 degrees. Gave up two runs on four hits, striking out five. He also walked four, but two of those were with two outs and he managed to put in seven solid innings.

Justin Wilson: Did his job well, striking out two (both looking) batters and working around a two-out scalded infield single to Nicholas Castellanos (who had no chance at making a play anyway).

Alex Avila: Had a two-hit game, scoring the second run and driving in the last of the night.

HISSES:
Justin Upton and Tyler Collins: Between the two, they struck out six times. Upton walked and stole a base, scoring on Alex Avila?s RBI single but otherwise was silent. Collins had a rough defensive night in center field.

STREAKS AND INFO:
Miguel Cabrera?s home run was his fourth of the season, and the 450th of his major league career.
Cabrera's 450th home run moved him past Jeff Bagwell and Vladimir Guerrero for 38th all-time. Next up: Carl Yastrzemski, who finished with 452 career home runs.

The Tigers? win over the Indians marked their fourth win of the season, matching 2016?s total wins against Cleveland. Detroit hadn?t gotten their fourth and final win against the Indians until Sept. 28.

NOTABLE:
Cabrera wore glasses Tuesday night, something he's done occasionally in the past. The lightly tinted glasses help with glare and dust.
Miguel Cabrera is now 23-for-52 (.442) in his career against Kluber.

Indians starter Corey Kluber left the game after three innings after experiencing lower back discomfort.
Kluber allowed five runs on seven hits, walking one and striking out four.

Before the game the Indians put outfielder Austin Jackson on the 10-day disabled list with a hyper-extended left big toe. Jackson, a former Tiger, suffered the injury Monday in the series opener.

The Indians recalled reliever Shawn Armstrong, who replaced Kluber in the fourth.

No your right but why not take a shot at him at second base every now and then?

Like vmarts surprise bunt, let's throw a guy out at second to end a game once instead of just letting them take a base. It was only a three run game, my aurgement is now you take the force at second away and increase thier odds of being able to keep the rally going

Miguel Cabrera's groin tightened up, which is why he was removed in 8th inning tonight.

Cold weather tightened it up they say, post game saying he's feeling fine after getting warm again. We'll see what tomorrow brings slightly warmer tomorrow

Tigers team era now below 5! Still dead last though..for now

because then your 2nd baseman or SS have to cover 2nd......leaving a hole somewhere.

I'm saying put on a play like a pitch out .. heck iggy can beat most guys to the bag.
Again I'm just saying once every like 10 gamesish .. just to put thoughts in the other teams head.

Eh.....maybe.....but I don't see much chance of it working. Santana's only "stealing" in that situation because he's not being held.....which means he has a big ass lead so the chances of getting him at 2nd, even on a pitch out, are slim. Pray-Rod was already having a tough time throwing strikes.....giving Lindor a free ball in the count could lead to a possible BB.

World Series here we come!

Because that runner means absolutely nothing so it makes ZERO difference in the outcome of the game.

They been doing this forever. What if there was 1-out, 6-1 game. Batter hit's to SS, instead of DP to end the game they have another - and the next 8 guys get hits. Or when you're up two, two outs.. ball is hit deep into the hole only play is at 2nd.. but the guys already on 2nd.

If they thought that runner meant nothing them what's the harm in making a throw? It's not like the batter hit's and runs in that situation so the 2B, SS could slide over to cover..

Miguel Cabrera is now the 6th player in baseball history to have a
.320+ batting average,
2500+ hits,
450+ home runs.
This puts Miggy in the company of Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Jimmie Foxx,
Lou Gehrig, and Stan Musial.
