Game 4: Lions @ Seahawks *Monday Night* Thread

3 points by the offense.

256 total yards

defense plays well and even scores a TD

Seattle tries to give the game away with 2 late turnovers

0-4

Carraun Reid and the rookie will be just fine. Don't expect any significant time missed by Ngata

Gabe Wright will be just fine based on what? Have you seen enough of him to know he is a worthy NFL player?

Why does the NFL keep letting Sgt Schultz ref our games?

boy it is obvious that the defender didn't know the rule. He could have easily grabbed that ball!

He actually said he could have as well. Decided to bat it out of bounds intentionally so as not to make a 'mistake'.

From ESPN power rankings

"Ill-timed fumbles aside, the Lions don't even have 200 rushing yards as a team this season. This after drafting a guard and a running back with their first two picks."

Joe Dumbardi needs to go. As infuriating as the team has been throughout history, the unwillingness to make a change is the most infuriating thing of all.

I thought he made adjustments in the game yesterday. They were a bit more aggressive overall. There were a couple of poor penalties, poor throws, and not making the first guy miss that were big contributors to killing or stalling drives.

There is no reason this offense cannot sling it down the field and use a up tempo style offense and use the pass to set up the run. Spread the damn field. Lombardi is clueless on how to use his weapons he has..

Exactly The last drive of the game just shows how clueless Lombardi is...This team has good offensive weapons, and can be fairly effective (as in move the ball a bit) while throwing. Lombardi is so damn focused on establishing the run, he is essentially willing to give up entire drives just to try and get it going. Why dont they try throwing the ball on 1st down, or second down, or even 80% of a drive, and use the pass to establish the run like a lot of teams (including the patriots) will do.

Instead they run the ball for 1 yard on first down, bring in an extra lineman and (shockingly) run the ball on second down, then force the offense to try and complete a 10+ yard play against a Dime defense...its outrageous

Yes, every drive isnt going to go like the last one did, but Hell, even if 30% of them did that, its still a FUCK TON better than the current production. Id even take a turnover out of Stafford every so often if it means moving the damn ball. Its a disgrace how inept this offense is...I dont buy that the players are the reason. Stafford has had some bad seasons in terms of TDs/Ints, but hes ALWAYS been able to move the ball...he hasnt thrown for 300 yards in 7 games straight. THATS A JOKE!!!

Yes, the players are a big reason why the team sucks. I just don't think they are talented as we all made them out to be in the off-season. And as much as we all can't stand the playcalling, the defense outside of last night has been crap.

KJ Wright has already said he didn't know the rule, and was in fact trying to hit the ball out of the back of the endzone to make sure no Lions player could recover it.

So it 100% clear now, the act was intentionally. And I'm betting if you polled 100 defensive players, 99 would say they would have done the same thing, and 1 would lie to you.

It's a shame, only because we know what could have been.

I don't buy into "we had plenty of chances" because that's football. It's a three phase game, offense, defense, special teams. This was a defensive game against the best defense in football, and exactly the kind of game you expect to come down to a last ditch effort.

However, we sure didn't do ourselves any favors all night, or so far, all season. And we all know when you're playing like shit, the refs don't give you the calls.

In 2008, I felt the refs took four games from us. And the way we played, we allowed them to do it, and we encouraged them to do it. Should have been a 4-12 team... was an 0-16 team. This season is no different so far. We won't get the lucky calls that help win games if we don't make the good plays that help win games.

I still go back to the final two minutes... every game. Doesn't matter if we're down by 20 or down by 3. Stafford goes into the two minute offense and drives them down field. The rest of the game, it's a shitshow.

I believe Stafford has the talent. I really do. But something in the play calling is stopping him from being successful until he takes over in a hurry up offense. Just this past week Lombardi said he does nat allow Stafford to change the play at the line. He also said Stafford calls the plays at the line in the hurry up.

The differences are amazing. And to me it proves this team is being held way way back by a bad offensive coordinator that needs to go right quick and in a hurry.

Very impressed by the defense aside from the early td drive. Who's available as an OC?

Joe Philbin is available all the sudden.

Packers offense was ranked in the Top 10 for points scored every year he was their O-Coordinator.

This isn't Madden where your top two DTs play the entire game. They rotate 3-4 to keep them fresh. Losing Ngata/Walker will hurt whether Austin is a great DC or not.

When we secure the number 1 pick you'll go back to this game and say thank you, refs.

And any event, we get penalty to give us a chance to win. Maybe we fumble on the next play .. maybe we score and then Seattle gets TD. The non call just prevented us from having a chance.

3 offensive points. And don't be confused by that last drive thinking Matt can do that all the time. He's been in hurry up, and two-minute drills before plenty of times and failed. Just hold onto the damn ball.

Hi there. Without Joe Philbin our offense wouldn't be what it is today.

I read that Ebron had MRI on knee and it was negative, no damage. Anyone hear anything on Ngata?
