Get StartedWell, for a contrast, Verlander got in the same count in almost the same situation (two outs instead of one), took no chances of the same thing happening and issued the walk, then made it a bit worse by hitting someone, but still pitched out of it. Perhaps taking the risk of a bb when their hottest home run hitter is up there might have worked out better. But of course, hindsight is 20-20.He didn't want to walk him. I'm sure he missed his mark but don't fall behind 3 and 0 and he won't have that problem.
Actually, the first guy out of the pen has done well all week; it's the second or third guy out that has done damage. Of course, outside of the 2nd inning yesterday, the real damage has been done by the dormant offense.AJ is just brutal with his first guy out of the pen decisions lately.
