Gardenhire sat with Tigers quality control coach Joe Vavra and watched just how many pitches their hitters were chasing out of the zone.
?One of the things we saw, we swung out of the zone something like 36 or 38 times,? Gardenhire said before Saturday afternoon?s game against the Athletics. ?That?s not good.?

So now we?ll see a bunch of guys start taking an excessive numbers of strikes just to make sure they don?t expand too much. The reason IMO they are all hacking away at crap out of the zone so much is cuz their timing mechanisms are all jacked up and they aren?t in good position to pick it up properly I hope their quality control guys and HC see that too. I won?t hold my breath they?ll just revert to taking more called Strikes now, cept for miggy his timing as looked spot on last two games

their timing might be off because they suck. Nobody in that linup except for Miggy has had a track record of being a good MLB hitter.
