Game 5: Lions @ Packers *Monday Night* Thread

Lions president Rod Wood had ?productive? talks with NFL about officiating.
The Lions have had some official conversations with the league about Monday night?s controversy.
Detroit Lions team president Rod Wood spoke to NFL representatives about officiating after Monday?s controversial finish with the Green Bay Packers. According to NFL Network?s Ian Rapoport, Wood talked to ?a variety of people at the league? and appreciated the talk.

?We?re going to continue to work with them to make sure officiating isn?t a problem going forward,? Wood told Rapoport. ?Hopefully it?ll improve as the season goes on.?

That?s not exactly the strong statement that I?m sure many Lions fans are looking for, but the Lions haven?t been a team that notoriously puts the officials on blast.

Per Tom Pelissero, Wood called his discussions with the NFL representatives as ?productive? but he did not go into any details as to what was discussed.

One NFL representative has already publicly admitted that the second hands-to-the-face penalty called on Lions defensive end Trey Flowers should not have been called.

Detroit Lions Podcast Episode 234 ? Lions & Packers An Official Mess ft. Dean Blandino. 72 minutes.

In this episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris is joined by Fox Sports Rules Analyst Dean Blandino. After this week?s officiating debacle in Green Bay, Lions fans have a lot of questions and need answers. We take your calls and questions to help shed light on what happened. We also talk about what needs to be fixed and how to affect the situation as fans.

Detroit Lions Podcast Finds The Tattle Tale.
Had you heard the news that David Bakhtiari did some tattling (his words) on Trey Flowers which resulted in two terrible penalty calls? As a result we also spend a bit of time discussing how players chirping at officials may affect their calls on the field. Dean also explains the review process works for evaluating officials. Every play, grading, demotions, drug tests, and even firings.

Dean also opens up about the one thing he would have changed if he went back in time to his job with the NFL. He opens up with a really interesting answer that is worth the price of admission on its own. Chris?s answer on the other hand, not so interesting.

So officials can be coerced into making bad calls? Dont go by what the rule book says...just take the other players word for it. Sounds about right.

I'm not evrn mad at Bahk tho!! He duped the fuck out of that ref on one of the oldest tricks in the book. Then he sold it like he was selling ketchup popsicles to a man with white gloves lol. That ref should be abolished from football....

Clay Matthews III Oct 15.
The storyline for the 2019 season continues to be the refs inability to make the accurate and correct calls week in and week out. Al Riveron continues to blindly side with his refs and the current status quo. Something must change! Zero accountability.

Defend the Detroit Lions.

Get fined.

(Clay Matthews was fined for this tweet after the MNF game).

FU NFL and Goodell.
