There is another significant moment in the Ronny Rodriguez story.

It happened in March, during spring training. ?I wasn?t hitting too well,? Rodriguez said. He had just one hit in his first 11 at-bats.

Then, he got some important advice from Alan Trammell, a Hall of Fame shortstop for the Tigers who now works in the front office.

Trammell told Rodrguez to move his front foot closer to the plate in the batter?s box, so his hips would stop flying open.

?The next game, I hit a home run,? Rodriguez says, beaming. He kept doing it and he kept hitting homers, all the way to Detroit. ?That keeps me in and ready to react to the breaking balls,? Rodriguez says. ?It?s helped a lot.?

+ Overall the data suggests that the Tigers front office has no idea what they're doing when it comes to the draft. It's time for a complete flush of the front office starting with Avila and going all the way down. Gardenhire should stay as he's exceeding the PYTHAG! by a lot, but damn, it'd be nice if he had some talent to work with -- something that Avila and Chadd seem unable to procure for him, at least through the draft, trades, international free agents, regular free agents, etc., and it's only a rumor that they've been offering rum and cigars to Jobu.
