It's hard to understand (the negativity) especially when the Tigers have largely been competitive.

The only positive thing the Tigers have going this year is Fulmer.

Those are fine, and spot on. I guess I don't like the the early strikeout, "you suck." Or base on balls, "I hate this team." etc. Not saying it's not warranted at times but it makes it less fun.. Just an old man's, not that old, opinion.

That's a good theory. Not my theory but a good one. I'll be honest, the past couple-3 years these game threads are so freakin' negative. It's no fun anymore.. Team not playing well might have something to do about it but I think there's more to it than that.. That's my half baked theory..

On a side note: Does anyone else see the Twins staying on top? I'm not sure I do. As bad as it's been I think the division is wide open. They have to start hitting, right?

You might be right Mitch, and I admit I am guilty as charged. Just been very frustrated with some great teams offensive and starting pitching, and more of a failed bullpen than good/excellent. All these years of being competitive and no World Series Championship.
Stupid swings/chasing garbage pitchers pitches, dumb baserunning, Tigers pitchers labor with a 30 or so pitch inning and then hack away and down 1/2/3 on 5 pitches, Dumb managing, and the bullpen for years.....
I am swearing unlike years ago, and decided to at least post that link for the swear jar.
Watching and rooting for 64 years since 1954 and only 2 World Championships 1968 and 1984,
for an original charter member team of the American League I have enjoyed watching.
More close years than I care to list, and of course the sucky suck years.
So if I have anything to do with some posters not wanting to post in the game threads due to my negative, angry, profane posts with reasons stated I apologize.

I mentioned this the other night, I think the first game of the Royals series. People are so frustrated with this team that before a game even gets rolling they're already at a 9/10 on the rage meter. Makes for a poor and generally boring conversation when it's repeated over a 162 game season.

I've been generally popping into the thread sometime past the 6th inning, if at all. I find conversations have a little more substance by then (not always). Also I've been to about 15 games this season, I generally don't make it to the boards at all on those days especially.

I've called out the negativity even when we were a playoff team. Everyone can go there at times, but there are some that just stay there.

Investigation 101. 10 people can witness a traffic accident/murder and you can get 10 different versions of what happened. Each person will believe that their version is the "right" version. Yet, all observed the same event. It is all based on biases and perspectives.

We all view this team from our own biases and perspectives. I wouldn't presume another's view of this team to be "wrong" if it didn't conform to mine. As stated, I just assume we are all Tiger fans. We just disagree as to the direction needed.

By mid game people can start getting irritated, more so during games where we can't seem to hit at all rather than when the pitching is a dumpster fire. But generally people get to the park in a good mood and want to have a good time, takes a bad game to really sour the moment.
