NOTABLE:
Miguel Cabrera's double in the second inning was the 1,000th extra-base hit of his career.
Among active players, only Albert Pujols, Adrian Beltre and Carlos Beltran have more.

Miguel Cabrera is the sixth-youngest player to reach that milestone behind Pujols, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Alex Rodriguez and Hank Aaron.

The Tigers held a moment of silence before the game to honor the memory of Jim Bunning, the Hall of Fame pitcher who died on May 26. He played for the Detroit Tigers from 1955 to 1963.

First base umpire C.B. Bucknor left the game briefly while he was checked by Tigers head athletic trainer Kevin Rand in the second inning. The nature of his injury wasn't clear, but the game continued with only three umpires until Bucknor returned about 10 minutes later.

Dixon Machado hit the first triple of his Major League career in the third inning and later added a double. He entered the game with 11 hits, all singles, in 2017.

Since his batting average dropped below .200 on May 23, Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias is 14-for-34 (.412) and his average has rebounded to .242.

Tigers designated hitter Victor Martinez left the game in the fifth inning with flu-like symptoms. Alex Presley pinch-hit for him and remained in the game as the designated hitter.

White Sox starter Derek Holland entered the game with an ERA of just 2.37. He left at 3.43 after giving up 8 runs in 2 1/3 innings.
White Sox reliever Michael Ynoa replaced Holland and faced just two batters before team's athletic trainer was summoned to the mound. The White Sox had Ynoa had right quad soreness and would be reevaluated on Saturday.

Miggy, V-Mart and J.D. got 7-for-13 with two home runs, three doubles and six RBIs in first game back from road trip.

The Tigers scored more runs this season only once, when they beat the Seattle Mariners, 19-9, on April 25.

Miguel Cabrera went 3-for-3 with four RBIs. J.D. Martinez came within a single of hitting for the cycle. He went 3-for-5 with two RBIs.
Mikie Mahtook and John Hicks also homered and Dixon Machado had three RBIs.

Michael Fulmer (6-3) had another strong outing. He gave up three runs in the fifth inning and just missed starting the season with 11 straight quality starts. He allowed five runs on seven hits with one walk and five strikeouts in seven innings. Fulmer ran his record to 6-3 on a 79-degree night when the Tigers looked as if they wanted forgiveness for a lousy 11-game road trip during which they went 4-7.

Webvideo Highlights of the Tigers Win over the white sox.

Roars
J.D. Martinez ? He hit a double, a triple, and a home run but couldn?t come up with the single to complete the cycle.

Miguel Cabrera -- Went 3-for-3 with a pair of extra-base hits and four RBI.

Everyone else -- HOLY CRAP. May as well list the entire offense. We?ll call out Dixon Machado?s triple. Jose Iglesias had three hits, and Justin Upton had two.

Hisses
Michael Fulmer -- He gave up five runs in seven innings. Do I want to hiss? No. I do not want to. But I feel I must.

Stats and Stuff
Miguel Cabrera hit his 1,000th career extra-base hit with his second double of the game.

The Tigers scored 10 runs in the first three innings vs. the White Sox. They scored nine runs in the entire four-game series in Chicago. Quite a difference a week makes. (h/t Fox Sports Detroit).

Tigers home run distances include 448 feet (Mikie Mahtook!), 430 feet (J.D. Martinez), and 444 feet (John Hicks!!)
