Game 6: Vikings @ Lions Thread

The lions lost today and I did not get massively depressed! You know why?

Because I didn’t fucking watch them LOL bwhahahahaahha sweet

Not to even try to be optimistic but the last 10 games on the schedule are not exactly against world beaters. The problem is even if we go 7-3 we finish at 9-6-1 and that's not going to be good enough.

The problem is that the Lions aren't even close to world beaters. We are an average team that is very inconsistent. We might go 7-3 but we could easily 3-7.

Exactly. There isn't a team in the NFL whose fans don't look at the schedule and mark 'W' next to Detroit.

Detroit Lions Podcast Episode 235 ? Detroit Lions & Minnesota Vikings Post Game Show. 60 minutes.

In this live episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris is joined by Case (of all people) to discuss the Lions home loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Another game in which the Lions were projected to lose, they proved the prognosticators correct. This time they have no one to blame but themselves. It wasn?t the officials, bad luck, or anything else. Almost as if a giant karmic ?F-you? to the Lions after they had us thinking they were a good call or good bounce away from winning. The team is playing better than they did last year. It?s just that they aren?t pulling in the wins, and games like this make people believe they are just hapless.

Detroit Lions Podcast ? Down On The Defense!
This is the first loss of the season that really took hope away from fans based on the team?s actual performance. Was this week?s performance an anomaly, or is this really the Lions team we will be watching for the remainder of the year? It?s not time to give up, but we now know just how bad this defense can be. The next few weeks will tell us what we really have here.

As always after a loss, The Detroit Lions Podcast provides the therapy session Lions fans need. We take your calls and discuss the team?s in today?s game. There is a ton to discuss here, but we believe that good teams have bad games ? we just need to see what comes next. Big show, lots to talk about, and the next few games will define this team.

I missed Johnson injury. Sweet another whiff at Running back. Jesus our luck is just all freaking bad.

T. J. Is looking like he was picked way fucking to early. Another whiff so far by Quinn. Draft freaking defense Quinn damn it. Maybe he will be great. Bush just looks so good now.

It is so frustrating watching teams like the Packers and 49ers, and others get good again. Lions are the SOL.

It is Maddening how unlucky the Lions are. It really doesn’t matter . Refs, injuries, mismanagement, coaching, ect, ect, ect.

It feels like the Lions are in fact cursed. When the offense plays great the defense shits the bed and visa versa. When the Lions have a great game plan (at packers) on defense it just doesn’t matter because the league will rip it from you. Now at 2-3-1 in the nfc we probably have at minimum go 8-2 to even sniff the post season. Thanks National Fixed League.

It really is amazing the luck we have with draft pick injuries. And it goes back to the late 90's.

Bryant Westbrook
Stephen Boyd
Louis Delmas
Kevin Jones
Kevin Smith
Nick Fairley
Jahvid Best
Titus Young (mental injuries)
DeAndre Levy

All players who were talented enough to be very good NFL players that saw their careers greatly decline or end due to injury.

Well of course we can lose every game. My point was even if we end up playing a very good stretch of football and go 7-3 , we would still miss the playoffs. It'll take 10 wins for a wildcard spot.

If the pass rush was as effective as it was last year, this would look like an ok pick. We aren't even pressuring QBs right now. Kirk Cousins crumbles under pressure and we gave him a clean pocket all day. I don't get it, so I'm just going to point the finger at coaching.

Pass rush is a joke
Snacks got his money and now nowhere to found
Hock is looking very ave at best now
The Running game is atrocious with or without KJ
The Offense line is too small and can't run block for shit
The so called TE heavy O is virtually non existence don't know why the Lions spend so much on TE's when it hasn't made a damn bit of difference to all this high level dumpster fire.

did I miss anything?

Marvin Jones, Kevin Strong PFF?s highest-graded Lions against Vikings.
At least two Lions managed to shine Sunday against the Vikings.
In an otherwise blah loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, at least two Detroit Lions walked away from Ford Field looking pretty good.

According to Pro Football Focus, receiver Marvin Jones Jr. and defensive tackle Kevin Strong Jr. were the Lions? highest-graded players from Week 7 who played a minimum of 25 snaps.

PFF_Lions
Here are the #Lions highest grades players from Week 7 (min 25 snaps):
Offensively:
WR Marvin Jones Jr.- 76.8 OVR
Defensively:
DI Kevin Strong Jr.- 90.3 OVR (T-5th by defensive player)
RB Kerryon Johnson earned the highest game grade of his career (84.6 OVR, only 11 snaps)

I?m sure you don?t need reminding, but let?s do it anyway because it feels good: Jones went off Sunday with 10 catches for 93 yards and four touchdowns. Strong had two tackles and three of Detroit?s five quarterback hurries.

Pride Of Detroit Lions Podcast: The Detroit Lions? season isn?t over... but it is in trouble. 67 minutes.
The PODcast crew discusses where the Detroit Lions go from here.

There?s no denying that Sunday?s loss to the Minnesota Vikings was devastating for the Detroit Lions. The team has now lost three straight games, have four fewer wins than the division-leading Green Bay Packers, and find themselves scrambling for answers on the defensive side of the ball, despite a roster that should be better than last year?s squad.

In typical fashion, Lions fans are jumping ship by the masses. Despite an impressively-high confidence level after the Packers game, all it took was one Kirk Cousins beatdown to convince fans this team is no longer capable of competing.

And there?s some truth to that. The Lions are now in an unenviable position both in their own division and in a conference that looks daunting. But, believe it or not, there are some positives to take from this game, and some hope for the immediate future. The Lions? season isn?t over, but it needs a turnaround, and it needs it right now.

The PODcast crew convened on Sunday night to discuss what went wrong and where the Detroit Lions go from here.

This week on the PODcast:
Jeremy takes the optimistic route, and discusses why the offensive performance may be the most surprising take from the game.

Ryan is not quite as happy, pointing to the defensive meltdown as a sign of doom. In fact, have the Lions really stopped anyone on defense?

What the hell is wrong with the run defense and why hasn?t Matt Patricia taken any steps to improve it after six straight games of horrible run defense?

Looking forward, the Lions could go streaking. But be aware of a soft-looking schedule, because the matchups may not be as favorable as you think.

Mailbag wonders if the Lions will be buyers or sellers at the trade deadline, talks about defensive adjustments against the Vikings passing game, and Trey Flowers disappointment.
