Game 65 Cleveland @ Tigers June 8 2018

Miguel Cabrera?s two hits Friday gave him 2,675 for his career, two shy of Luis Aparicio (2,677) for 72nd all-time in MLB history.

Boyd is either part of your long-term plan or a trade chip this season. If the manager thinks he is struggling or at or near his pitch count you pull him.

Like I said, those 3 are the only pitching assets they have at the ML level.

You think this team is good? You are out of your mind. They are 5 games under .500. Thre are only 11 teams in baseball with a worse record. They have a -26 run differential...again only 11 worse. They are 10th in the AL in team OPS, 11th in OBP, 15th in HR. Their team ERA is 6th, 10th in BAA and 8th in QS.

This is NOT a good team.

I don't need your stats. The problem with pitch counts is you try and push 'em. No point in babying them. And assets are suppose to pitch, not be protected. Teams wants SP who can pitch late into games.. I like Boyd but right now he has no trade value. Fulmer has more than he does.

First and foremost, whether it is pitch count or not, DET's starters are not going deep into the games. They rank 11th in AL with IP per GS as a team and 11th in Quality Starts. This means by nature, they are going to go to the bull pen sooner rather than later. Sure, the bull pen sucks. But, the starters are not collectively doing what they need to do. Each starter has a track record and compare that with Gardenhire shows actually positive individual improvements. Alas, as a team, they suck.

IP per GS
Boyd = 5.86
Liriano = 5.76
Fulmer = 5.67

Hardy = 5.67

AL AVERAGE = 5.55

Fiers = 5.48
Zimmerman = 4.48
Carpenter = 4.00

VerHagen = 3.67
Lewicki = 3.67
Norris = 3.50

HOU
Cole = 6.74
Verlander = 6.67
Keuchel = 6.21

Morton = 6.08

Celvinger = 6.47
Carrasco = 6.38
Plutko = 6.11
Bieber = 5.67

Tomlin = 5.0

BLUF. DET starters are not all that good going deep into the games. Most playoff teams don't just have one starter who averages more than 6 innings, but 3 or more. DET has none.

2017 DET

Sanchez = 4.96

Ramon Santiago and his wife, mostly his wife, had a baby boy. That's why Tram was coaching first.
