Get StartedHa!! Shep just read my mind, recalling ex-Lions HC Bobby Ross.
Gardy don't manage this kind of baseball.
But will he up and quit midseason?
If I was looking for a plug and play utility fielder and/or PH/DH to acquire in trade with the Tigers, then Dixon would be my choice. He has often been clutch with occasional power, and plays acceptable defense when needed. There really is no other positional player on the team who is desirable, since Jones hasn't proven that his recent uptick @ the plate is sustainable for a season.
He's hitting well. That's all the appeal I need. Too bad he's not walking more but it beats a .186 BAA with few more walks.
.729 OPS, how many on this team can top that? It's all about context. This offense blows and he's a bright spot.
But in the month of June, he has been one of the worst hitters on the team and Jacoby Jones has been the best.
.232 BAVG .237 OBP .357 SLG .594 OPS
BLUF. Dixon is not someone another team will trade for, which was the substance of my post and in response to a previous post. Yes, he hit some clutch HRs, as I pointed out, but there is absolutely no redeeming value to him. He will go by the wayside like Matt Tuiasosopo or Quintin Berry.

There is absolutely nothing appealing about Dixon. He played horrendous defense at 2B (.962 FPCT) and 3B (.880 FPCT) in the minors. He strikes out too much and cannot take a walk. Yes, he hit some clutch HRs this year, but that is a microcosm of his overall game.
And the first two months Jones was one of the worst in the whole major leagues. That's the way it works. And then we have the players who've been bad all season. In comparison he's Babe Ruth compared to some of the other guys.

You take posts too literally sometimes, since I was posting about who the Tigers might have to trade, not the rest of MLB. Any utility player who is somewhat better @ defense and @ the plate will either not be available or will cost more in prospects. I never posted the Dixon was good or great on the field, or that he was any kind of a solution/replacement for a player on the DL long-term, or a season-ending injury to a regular.
But anyway...looks like your stats ship has finally come in, and you can even get paid for it:

You must be reading it wrong or I must be reading it wrong. I know you're a big Lebron fan..I just read your quote on the bottom.
"Hey, thank you for leaving me off your Mount Rushmore. I?m glad you did. Basketball is a team game. It?s not for individual honors.
I won back-to-back state championships in high school, back-to-back NCAA championships in college. I won an NBA championship my first year in the league, an NBA championship in my last year, and nine in between. That, Mr. James, is etched in stone." -- The Great Bill Russell
Bill Russell must be a moron. He says basketball is a team game then goes on to say "I won championships"
What happened to it being a team game? :lmao:
Literal?
If I was looking for a plug and play utility fielder and/or PH/DH to acquire in trade with (the Tigers) a deadline dealing team then Dixon would be my choice. He has often been clutch with occasional power, and plays acceptable defense when needed. There really is no other positional player on the team who is desirable, since Jones hasn't proven that his recent uptick @ the plate is sustainable for a season.
Now that fix would mean that I thought Dixon would be the best option available in MLB for acquiring a utility player prior to the trade deadline.
As far as a job is concerned, I am not sure the Tigers could match my current salary. Thanks anyways.
