Maybe Rosenthal will pitch good so we can trade him in two weeks.

Cherish this 2 homer game, Jordy Mercer....too little, too late to extend your MLB career beyond '19.

royals defeat whitesux...Tigers gain a game on them and move a half game closer on the orioles who DNP, in tanking for the top draft pick @ #2.

Tigers sputter after rain delay vs. Indians.

Cleves 8 - Tigers 6: Homers for everyone!
Unfortunately, the Tigers found themselves on the short end of a mini-slugfest.

Tigers still believe MLB got it wrong calling Reyes out at the plate.

I'm still giving C.I. the benefit of doubt that he ultimately wants to put a competitive team out there. I think we all knew this was going to be a total re-build.

I'd prefer that CI aspires to assembling championship-caliber teams. I expect that such an outcome would be accidental.

I would be happy with a consistently competitive team that shoots for a championship if they get lucky.

Rebuild doesn't mean assemble the worse possible team. And apparently they're rebuilding the coaching staff because they stink.

There is one objective of professional sports organizations in regards to competing. Win championships. Some do this better than others, and those that don't make this the only objective are cheating their fans.

Professional sports are just forms of entertainment. Every year teams say that their goal is to win championships but in most cases that goal is not achievable.

As far as cheating their fans...fans are free to do whatever they want with their entertainment dollar and their time. If you are a fan of any Detroit sports team and are expecting them to compete for a championship this year...you are delusional. If that's all you want out of them, go spend your time doing something else.

^^^^^ In the NFL it should be the singular goal of every team every season, because there is no other professional sport that is more volatile in regards to teams rising and falling. As for the other sports, it's a process that never ends, for the teams that are serious about being the best. I am not confident that CI is. "Competing for a championship" might take several seasons and plenty of MLB teams have built up, torn down, and built up again. Others wallow in mediocrity by design. Mediocrity is unacceptable to me, as it should be for any professional in any profession.

The Tigers not only represent the city in which I grew up in and still live nearby, but also have received $$ from me for many years in the form of purchasing and subscribing to products and services, part of whose costs are being passed down to consumers b/c of teevee and radio advertising...this even though I haven't attended a game @ CoPa since its inaugural season. So I feel that I still have a small vested monetary interest in the ballclub's performance, (including a cable subscription with FSD) from season to season. I also would MUCH rather prefer not to read, hear, or watch news that they still absolutely suck until I pass away, as the Lions have for all of my adult lifetime and may well continue to more than cover that issue.

This so-called "rebuild" has been ongoing for longer than the two years that the organization wants the fanbase to believe, and has "encouraged" the local mass media to report. Their amount of blue, much less red-chip positional prospects are nowhere near enough, and among those who they do have, most are not even close to being ready for prime-time next year or in some cases, the year after that, if ever. Still attempting to trade players who they have under club control and trying to lower near-future payroll means that the tear-down isn't over and done with as yet, either.
