Preview to Gameday.

Detroit Tigers
RHP Michael Fulmer (10-7, 3.35 ERA)
19 GS, 126 1/3 IP, 112 H, 47 ER, 8 HR, 28 BB, 89 K, 3.35 FIP

Kansas City Royals
LHP Danny Duffy (6-6, 3.71 ERA)
15 GS, 94 2/3 IP, 94 H, 39 ER, 7 HR, 27 BB, 75 K, 3.51 FIP

Three things to know about this game
Both starters are among the league leaders in limiting the long ball, as Fulmer has yielded just eight home runs in 126 1/3 innings (0.6 HR/9) and Duffy has given up seven in 94 2/3 innings (0.7 HR/9).

Three weeks before his blowup game against Kansas City, Fulmer came one out shy of shutting out the Royals in Detroit. They strung together enough hits to chase him, leaving Fulmer to settle for two runs allowed on seven hits in 8 2/3 innings.

Tigers designated hitter Victor Martinez has been the toughest out for Duffy in Detroit's lineup. Martinez has a .351/.415/.622 slash line against Duffy in 41 career plate appearances, including 10-for-22 (.455) with three home runs since the beginning of 2015.

Notable
Fulmer and Duffy squared off last Thursday, and neither fared very well. Fulmer had the worst start of his MLB career. He allowed eight runs (five earned) on seven hits in 2 2/3 innings.
Overall, Fulmer is 2-3 with a 3.32 ERA in six career starts against Kansas City.

Duffy gave up four runs on nine hits in five innings, striking out four.
Duffy is 6-7 with a 4.01 ERA in 20 career games (17 starts) against the Tigers.
Tigers vs Duffy: Miguel Cabrera .229 (8 for 35, 10 Ks), Victor Martinez .351 (13 for 37, 3 HRs), Justin Upton .429 (6 for 14, 2 HRs).

Tigers by the numbers
Overall: 45-53
Current streak: L1
At Comerica Park: 25-22
On the road: 20-31
Day games: 21-15
Night games: 24-38
vs. AL East: 10-10
vs. AL Central: 24-20
vs. AL West: 7-17
vs. NL: 4-6

Fulmer struggling again. Damn.

I do not recall the no run offense ever winning a game. Some how I do not see the no run awful offense ever winning a game, either.

I don't think that guy threw a single strike to anyone tigers do what they do best, expand the zone trying to take what isn't there and get themselves out to end the threat

Nick is now 0 for his last 18 I think, and 3 for his last 27 since his two HR game. Over aggressive trying to kill everything

I'm starting to lose hope with these Tiger's..

Well when you do, let us know. I'm really curious to see what it takes beyond being 7.5 back, 8 under .500, and most likely your best bat traded away.
