How many of us would go for this trade now? I believe Oakland had offered us this trade in the off season.

i dont think he'll continue to be quite this good, his babip, hr/9 and hr/fb rate are all WAY below his career averages and general averages. if he can keep up the improvements in his k rate, walk rate and swinging strike % he will probably be around a high 2-low 3 FIP imo, but theres no way he's going to keep his homers that low.

and for the record, no i still wouldnt do the trade since they wanted castellanos and turner. we dont really need another starter, we need hitting (and defense).

Do you pay attention to stats other than Wins/losses, ERA, and WHIP?

There are many stats that can tell us what he should be doing, how he should be doing, if he is just in a zone etc. But 7-1 with a kick ass ERA says he's getting it done. Can't disregard it.

Its the NL in a weak division but so far he's been great, can't deny that.

It's the NL?

2012 NL Avg. .250

2012 AL Avg. .251

2012 total runs scored:

NL: 3136

AL: 2929

You're trying to take away from Gio for whatever reason, and it's lame, and it's failed.

You're first argument is as dumb as if someone said Verlander was not as good as he seemed because he pitched against the AL Central.

Not like he was a piece of shit the last two years in the AL.

He's a good pitcher, but his BAA is almost .08 lower than usual, BABIP is .05 below career average, GB percentage is up 3 %, FIP is 1.3 lower, and FIPx is 1.1 lower than career average. He's good, but we should definitely wait a couple months before judging his season.

Yeah I get the numbers and no one is saying he'll pitch like this all year. But as of now, he's been very good. Why does anyone have to wait?
