Gio Gonzalez for Jacob Turner

Do you pay attention to stats other than Wins/losses, ERA, and WHIP?

In other words, am i a math geek or a wannabe moneyballer? Nah, i look at what he's doing today and i see he's dominating in the NL. That's all that is necessary. Your argument is weak.....

Sorry that you're intimidated by stats. Remember, they are your friend, not your enemy.

You'd have to discredit what Verlander and Fister did last year with that theory since the ALC was even worse than it is this year. Tigers were the only team with more wins than losses.. If you're good you're good. JV can't help if the schedule throws Pittsburgh in front of him. His stuff is so good that he probably would have shut down the Rangers on the same night. You can't always attribute success based on the opponent. Like Tony said, they're still major leaguers and Gonzales is dominating them

Because our starting pitching was so awesome in the playoffs last year.

So because of that they stink?

You try pitching a short game because of rain, come back earlier than normal in another rain game. Just bad timing.

So what? He's facing major-league baseball players and dominating them.

And he would come back to the AL and be a good but not dominant pitcher again. That fact is kinda important. He's a top 50 pitcher in the league, he's not a top 15 pitcher in the league.

Math geeks and moneyballers rule the world of baseball now for the simple reason that they know more about it than other people. Also, those stats you listed don't make you a math geek moneyballer, those are stats joe schmo baseball fan uses.

You don't know that for sure, bro...

Rule the baseball world? No, they don't actually. They like to think they do but in reality, they don't.

Besides, the only stats i listed were wins/losses, ERA and WHIP. Buddy was the one who said there were more stats to look at.

They abundantly populate every single major league front office (maybe with the exception of the Tigers). So yeah, they are in charge in places where it is important.

I think the National League is going to help him a little.

DD always over values his players. He thinks he has 10 MLB ready pitches down on the farm. He has none. Zero. Maybe not on this board but I got slammed big time for suggesting the Tigers were stupid not to give up both prospects for him. You never know. I said throw in Oliver while your at it.
